When can Canadian Quicken users expect this release to be available?
More importantly, will it fix the Download QFX file fails after upgrading to Canadian version R68.32 - Quicken?
@Peculiar_Investor I'm Canadian and I use the Canadian version. I believe I am the only Canadian SuperUser that uses the Canadian Windows version of Quicken.
@Peculiar_Investor Quicken generally does not publish a schedule for when a specific release will be made available to Canadian users. Canadian and U.S. versions often receive updates on different timelines, and releases are typically rolled out in stages rather than to everyone at once.
If R69 has already been released for Quicken Windows U.S., Canadian users will usually need to wait until Quicken completes testing and deployment for the Canadian edition. The best place to watch for availability is Help → Check for Updates within Quicken and the official Quicken release notes/announcement sections.
Unless Quicken has made an official announcement, other users here would only be speculating on the timing.
@Peculiar_Investor Quicken does not provide information about planned releases. Those in the Beta Test group have some insight, but of course that is all protected by NDA, so it doesn't become common knowledge.
Furthemore, I wouldn't count on the next release of Quicken solving that particular issue. That issue affected what appears to be a small number of users. I suggest you use the workarounds for resinstallation posted in the other thread and leave the issue behind. I had no issue installing the "problematic" last release.
As someone with a background in software development I have never expected Quicken to provide a release schedule. That said, it would be nice to have a regular release cadence so the user base has some level of expectation of when to expect updates.
In my original post I quoted @Quicken Anja who on 9/4/2026 stated that R69.21 was "now live and available to all." I had note that since R68 there are no separate announcements of US and Canadian versions in Product Releases and Announcements: Windows — Quicken although clearly US versions are made available before Canadian versions. One plus months after the US version is released should provide ample time to get a Canadian version released.
As to the specific issue and "solutions", I have repeatedly tried applying the Quicken for Windows: Manual Patch Update | Quicken for Canadian Quicken users without it resolving the issue. I have had too many bad experiences with a solution of uninstall and then reinstall software because often it removes settings and configuration options for the application. Therefore as a matter of policy I will never undertake this "solution". It is not a "solution", it is cop-out and lame workaround from developers. The only correct solution is acknowledge a problem exists and fix it in a future release!
@Peculiar_Investor -
Therefore as a matter of policy I will never undertake this "solution". It is not a "solution", it is cop-out and lame workaround from developers.
I think you have a misunderstanding of what this site is. This is a Community forum for users like you, me and @Arctic Hare to have discussions about how to use Quicken Classic and to identify issues/concerns and to offer suggestions on how to address those things. We are not Quicken developers. There are some Quicken employees who post in this forum who are Moderators and they do also offer some information and assistance but they are not part of the Quicken development team, either.
The suggestion to revert to a prior version comes from what other users have posted has worked for them, not from Quicken development. Even the Moderators do not post that reverting to a prior version is a "solution" to a problem but they will sometimes post that other users have said that doing so has helped them. So there is no "cop-out and lame workaround from developers" here.
You have been offered a suggestion by another user. What you do or do not do regarding that is your call. Just, please do not criticize others for trying to help. If you do not want help from other users in this forum, you can always contact Quicken Support directly and get a more official Quicken response from them.
You are certainly free to do whatever you want, but if the reason for suggesting people install the manual patch wasn't a "guess that maybe it will work". The problem first hit the US version, and it worked for everyone that had it, and it makes very good sense. And I will note that an "uninstall" isn't needed.
It is pretty clear that what happened is during the automatic update the Windows setting to open QFX files in Quicken got corrupted. The manual installed just redoes that setting.
So, do I believe that the next update for Quicken Canadian will fix the problem? Yes. For the simple reason that it was a one-off thing for the automatic install.
But like I said, feel free not to do it, and instead you can do the workaround of using the menus.
As for the release schedule for the Canadian version, you can want/dream for whatever you like, but I think it is pretty clear where Quicken Inc thinks the Canadian version on the priority list, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
And that might be a good thing, Quicken Windows new releases haven't been a great success lately, and some might even think of the US version being the beta version for the Canadian version.
As I posted above, the manual install of the Canadian R68 manual patch did NOT resolve the issue. Hence my hope that when the Canadian R69.xx version is made available it will address and fix the issue.
I do appreciate the replies although I will respectfully disagree with some of them.
What I do find interesting is none of the replies have come from those identified as Quicken Canada Subscribers and therefore your software version and experiences are likely quite different.
