Can I run a Quicken 2019 CD on my Windows 10/11 PC? I am using Quicken without online services.

I have been using my Quicken Premier 2011 CD on this same computer, just doing manual entries, with no problems. I now want to use this 2019 version I have, but the program will not allow me to access my accounts. I already had Q2019 convert my data file, and it appears in the File Tab, so that was no problem. When I open the program on my desktop, it opens to a gray screen, showing the File & Help tabs in the top left and my data file name. The screen directs me to Quicken.com or contact/call Quicken help. Does anyone know if there is a way to make this program functional?

Q2018 and later are annual subscription applications. After installing Q2019, in order to get the application to work, you would need to enter an activation code that should have come with that Q2019 CD when it was purchased. Unfortunately, the activation codes for Q2019 expired many years ago. So, you won't get Q2019 to run and open your data file.

If you want to use the converted data file, you will need to purchase the Subscription and download and install the latest version of Quicken Classic Premier. You'll have up to 30 days to try it out, and if you don't like it or it does not meet your wants/needs, you can request a full, no-questions-asked refund.

If you decide to keep the Subscription, after the 1st year you will have the option to renew the Subscription for another year or to decline to do that. If you decline to renew, you will be able to continue using Quicken manually for as long as your system supports it. But you should note that after the Subscription expires, there will be banners taking up about 20%-30% of the screen reminding you to resubscribe. These banners can only be removed by resubscribing.

Otherwise, if you have a backup of your Q2011 data file, you can continue to use that manually with your Q2011 application.

There is another alternative. You can get a download of Q2013 from the article linked below. Q2013 is provided for free as a conversion tool for users converting from older versions, but some users opt to use the Q2013 version.

I think that is a fair way to state it, and there is no need to hang on to that disc anymore. When you order a subscription, you download the current version of the software from the Quicken.com website. If you order the software from a retailer, you will be provided a new activation code, and when you install the downloaded software, you will be prompted to enter that code. If you order the software from Quicken.com, you can then download the software via the ordering process from your Quicken.com online account, and the software will be downloaded already activated for installation.

Sometimes there will be sale prices available from retailers which might be better than the online price from Quicken.com. Whichever source you buy from (retailer or Quicken.com), make sure that what you are buying is not identified as for new subscribers only.

BTW, I should have mentioned the option that @mshiggins mentions in her post below. I did not do that because you are using Quicken Premiere, and the free Q2013 software (no activation code is required) is for Deluxe, not Premiere. If you go this route, you won't lose any historical Premiere data and can still access that historical data, but you will not be able to use any Premiere-specific features for anything new going forward. Still, the differences between Deluxe and Premiere are not all that significant and are mostly regarding some of the tax and investment reports. There are many who have downgraded from Premiere to Deluxe and are happy with it.

Yes, very clear and informative, thanks Boatnmaniac. I assumed that Quicken made the software in the newer versions force a regular subscription. So as I understand it, the Q2019 disc is now useless, since the subscription has become download only and would not utilize this disc. Is that correct?

I will likely get a subscription for the current version in the future, but right now due to my financial situation I will continue using my old disc offline.

I like your alternative, great info, I just read the link you provided. I will likely try that option, its only 2 years newer than what I'm curently using, but for free I'll use it. If it works as smoothly as my 2011 I'm sure I'll be happy, just unfortunate that the 2019 disc cannot be used. Thank You for the heplful link.

I have seen in the past a retailer who was selling quicken subscriptions at a discount from Quicken.com, and I caught the new subscriber vs current user identifications. Thanks, that's a good point that some people may not catch. I will search for any discounted offers when I am ready to restart a subscription for the online features.

Q2013 is static, there are no updates.

It would be exactly like using Q2011 - offline. But the Q2013 version is 2 years newer and has some improvements over the Q2011 version.

There are no banners encouraging user to upgrade in Q2013.

A few of our super users use Q2013 - @splasher and @volvogirl. If my Q2017 ever becomes unusable, my current plan is to port back from Q2017 to Q2013 via QIF export/import.

Edit to add:

One issue I notice consistently with the subscription version is there are always new patch versions coming out and the new versions often seem to cause problems. One of the things I most value about using the Q2017 version is it is stable - no unexpected changes.
