My current (sic) version of Quicken is the Cash Manager 2013, Canadian Edition Release R2 (22.1.2.1) for Windows. I would like to now purchase the 2018 version (canadian) and for a Mac. Are my backup copies ( QDF) compatible? I

There is no Canadian version for the Mac. That said, the Mac version (US based) does support downloading from many FIs/Banks, if you need that, but not as many as the CDN version of QWin. There is also no link to CDN Tax forms, since it is a US based product. Otherwise, it works very well for many Canadians.

As for compatibility, the files are not compatible but you can convert the data from QWin to QMac. But you may lose some data and features. Since your data is from QW2010 or newer, the mechanics are quite simple...copy data file over to Mac. Open data file with QM2018. The built-in conversion process will step you through but there are a few things you need to know; here is the entire process:
    https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/faq-converting-from-quicken-for-windows-includin...
In your case, you can skip steps 1 and 2 but review all the prep and background info before:
    https://www.quicken.com/support/things-do-converting-your-data-quicken-mac-2016

NOTE: Be aware that at this time, it is very difficult to convert back from Mac to Windows, as there are many problems with the reverse conversion process.

I also suggest that you make sure that Quicken 2018 for Mac will meet your needs, since it was re-written from the ground up (starting in 2010 with Quicken Essentials) and is not the same product as the Windows version, so there are some features that are still not there e.g. full loan amortization*, 2-line display, QuickMath, or are not as fully developed yet, e.g. Customized Reports, some investment performance reports and stats  (therefore some data may not carry over). You can start here:
    http://www.quicken.com/mac/compare

*NOTE: Support for fixed rate loans has been released as of  QM2017 v4.5.x but there is no announced timing for support for variable rate or simple daily interest loans.

You may want to review the List of Obstacles and Hindrances for Migrating from QM2007 or QWin to Quicken for Mac. Add your vote to any features that are missing for you. Your VOTES matter!

Be aware of data that will and will not carry forward:
    https://www.quicken.com/support/what-data-gets-carried-over
Then look at the updates since the original release here:
    https://www.quicken.com/support/2018-release-quicken-mac-release-notes
You will also want to look at a more detailed comparison done by a SuperUser which also identifies nuances not mentioned elsewhere (and read on for comments from other users too on that same discussion thread):
    https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/can-anyone-who-has-switched-from-2007-to-2015-he...
Take a look at the following videos to give you a better idea:
    https://www.youtube.com/user/QuickenMac

Note that there are many differences that are rather subtle, that are not necessarily identifiable via documentation, for example, the 12-month budget feature does not allow including transfers, including investment income, selecting specific accounts,  or have rollover capability.

If you find that QM2018 does not meet your needs, the alternative is to run Quicken for Windows in a virtual machine on your Mac. There are 5 popular products you can use: Parallels, VMWare Fusion, Oracle VirtualBox, Bootcamp or CrossOver. The first 4 require you to also buy a copy of Windows. The first 2 cost $50-80, the third and forth are free. CrossOver also costs about $50-$80 but does NOT require you to buy Windows.

If you plan to keep your PC & Mac, you could also run Quicken on the PC and use remote access (several free options, e.g. NoMachine and Teamviewer) to access Quicken from your Mac  (or even a tablet or phone) (see this great article for complete review of many options (most are free): http://machow2.com/rdp-for-mac/ ).

    Hi Stuart, appreciate your question.

Quicken for Windows Canada 2018 launched today (12/7/17), and you should have no problem in updating your QDF files to the newer version of Quicken.

Please reply if you have any further questions.

    Respectfully,
    ~Quicken Harold.

Do know that if you purchase a 2018 subscription you gain access to both the Windows and Mac downloads. If you have two different setups, you can even have both installed.  This will allow you to continue using Quicken for Windows as you have while playing around with Quicken for Mac before fully converting to see if it will suit your needs.

Also, know that we do now offer Mac in Canada--our new Mac 2018 release can be found here: https://www.quicken.com/canada/compare/mac

Good to know...raises a bunch of questions as I read through the details...
    1. Is this new QM2018 edition unique in terms of features? I do see that Bill Centre/Bill Presentment, and Bill Pay are not included. Are there any other uniquenesses like including links to CA Tax forms to Turbo Tax Canada?
    2. Another way to ask the above is that in the US version there are many features that simply do not work/apply in Canada but many Canadians have been using it anyway. Have these all been taken out of the CA version of QM2018 or are they still there but continue to not work/apply?
    3. Does the CA version of QM2018 include the ability to download from US FI/Banks?

    4. The US version of QM2018 includes ability to download from CDN FI/Banks. Will this continue to be true?
    5. The footnotes indicate that Quicken Mobile only works in Canada. Is this a unique version for Canada? Does it not link to US accts?

    6. I also see that Quicken Mobile is listed to only work with QM2017 and later but the US site lists it as working will all versions of QMac...is there a different versions of QMobile to work with QM2015 and QM2016?

    7. Is Premium support not available for QM2018 CA like it is for the US? After all, they are effectively the same product (the CA version having reduced functionality)?

Interesting.  I hope for the Canadian users they are using run time/compile time switches for this instead of a branch.  Good luck folks.
