Using Quicken 2007 for MAC. Unable to open a new copy after creating it with "save a copy".

Using Quicken 2007. Unable to open a new copy after creating it with "save a copy". I get a response like "unable to save" and " unable to open" I have Quicken 2017 on my Mac, have not used it yet, opened it, tried to convert my current file, and save, would not do so.

What version of macOS are you running? The "Save A Copy" function in Quicken 2007 does not work if your Quicken resides on a hard drive formatted in the newer APFS file format. (Click on your Macintosh HD and do File > Get Info. The Format is shown there.)
Is there a specific reason you want to use Save A Copy? You can make a copy of a Quicken 2007 data file in the Finder if you wish; just make sure Quicken isn't running when you do this. (Save A Copy can sometimes fix file abnormalities, but it is usually not critical if you are gearing up to convert to Quicken 2017.) If you have Quicken 2007 still functional on your Mac, it's a good idea to rebuild the database index files -- Command-Option-B -- before importing into the modern Quicken Mac. Also, Quicken 20917 will make a copy of your Quicken 2007 file to process for importing, so it won't touch your existing Quicken 2007 file (and you can continue to use Quicken 2007 side-by-side with Quicken 2017.)Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19936

BTW, APFS file format was introduced with macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) but only applied to SSD drives by default. Then with macOS 10.14 (Mojave), all boot drives were automatically converted to APFS format. So likely, you are using macOS 10.13 or higher.If it really becomes important for you to use Save A Copy (which can be useful to correct internal data file problems), you can create a Mac OS Extended format (aka HFS+) to store your QM2007 files. We can walk you through that if it becomes necessary.
