Can an update be rolled back?

I have Quicken 2017 Deluxe and when I opened it, it asked me if I wanted to update it. I said yes, but now it's wanting me to open it with a backup file. I'm not finding a backup file from the last time I used it and did a LOT of work. So, I'm hoping that I can roll back the update so that I can open it, do a backup, then re-apply the update. Is that possible?

To roll back an update, we actually uninstall Quicken, install Quicken while disconnected from the internet and update Quicken to a specific release patch.
Quicken usually does ask us to save a backup before we update just in case something goes wrong. The question I have is why is Quicken asking you to open it with a backup file?5

You did not include your operating system information.
Also get into the habit after changes to your data file, to perform a Manual Backup of the data file. Why? Because when you don't use Quicken for awhile and you have a Program Update to Quicken, Quicken will update itself, otherwise it will not run.
Have you try an easy fix? Restart the operating system / computer? Have you checked for File System errors of the Hard Drive?thecreator - User of Quicken Subscription R53.16 USA
