QXF between Mac 2017 and Windows 2020 has thousands of errors

I have Quicken 2017 on Mac and I need to move it to my newly acquired Windows version of the software. Quicken support page claims this works and details the instructions. Note: I do not have any investments in this data file which was the one caveat Quicken outlines.

So... I exported a Quicken Windows Transfer File QXF from my Mac version... imported it into the windows version as outlined, into a new data file.

I get 7563 errors. Several of them are failure to create categories and then I just get thousands of "Memory Allocation" errors.

The balances on most but not all the accounts come in close... but not exact and each registry is missing thousands of transactions.

I really need some answers... Quicken support appears to be unavailable due to CoVid?

This worked! Nice one Chris. yeah... the new subscription comes with both OSX and Windows versions so I just had to install it in both places... upgrade the database on the Mac and then re-export the QXF file. 4 errors but all easy fixes.

    That's great.

I should have mentioned that the Subscription version has both Quicken Mac and Windows.

It is good information that the Quicken Mac 2017 doesn't have the same fixes.

There actually is a way to export using CSV files, but it is much more error prone, so now that they have got the QXF working properly it is certainly the way to go.

Quicken Support is available but Covid-19 has affected the hours they are available.  Currently they are available from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST: https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7871754/fyi-quicken-support-hours-of-operation#latest

(Quicken Classic Premier Subscription: R54.16 on Windows 11)

It is "common" to get these errors.

Quicken Windows QXF import doesn't support investment transactions.  You will get an error for every such transaction.  What's more given that these transactions will be missing any account that has transfers to/from an investment account will most likely be off by these amounts.

Helpful thanks... Has any one run into these errors before or found a way around them?

As i mentioned in my question, I don't have any investment transactions. I do have some transfers between checking accounts but they are not investment related.

The log makes it seem like it struggles with catagories and then that turns into memory errors.

Sorry I missed that you didn't have any investment transactions.

About the only thing I can think of to try would be to install the latest Mac version (Quicken Subscription) on the Mac, convert your data file with that version, and then try the QXF export/import.

They might have put in changes to the QXF that aren't in your 2017 version.

I might give that a go but i will probably have to purchase it.

I also tried removing all categories from a reduced range (2 years) of transactions but it triggered the same number of errors.

There seems to be no way to export a registry as a csv and import that into quicken which is unfortunate.
