Memorized Transactions and Categories Missing

Categories are disappearing completely. I can tell from doing reports that show uncategorized transactions - significant amounts of them. Memorized transactions are also loosing the categorization part of the transaction. I've been fixing them as I go, but more and more transactions are going uncategorized AFTER they were input correctly. Is something corrupted?

Do you have Quicken cloud sync on? If so, that is probably your issue. I have had to keep cloud sync off for months (until Quicken fixes the issue).

I do have that turned on. I will turn off. Is it still a manual fix on everything thing then?

    Hello @PClev

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community to post your issue, although I apologize that you have not received a follow-up response.

You will want to restore a backup saved prior to the information going missing.

    https://www.quicken.com/support/how-backup-or-restore-your-quicken-data

Once in the restored file, you will then disable the sync process.

I hope this helps to clarify!

    Hi Tyka,

Thank you for the response. I've been dealing with this issue for several months. I can't identify when to restore and it was so many months ago, that it would be extremely time consuming to have to re-enter all the work already in.

What I need to understand is how to stop this issue moving forward and if I go manually research all the "uncategorized" transaction and fix their categorization, will that fix things or is there a bug in my file that will mess it all up again?

    Thank you,

    Pat

does anyone know if this has been fixed? I would like to use quicken on my laptop for a few months while traveling, but I don't want to lose all my memorized transactions again.

Quicken sync to Mobile/Web isn't for use on a laptop.  For a laptop you just need to copy the Quicken Desktop data file (.QDF) to the laptop, install Quicken there, and then open the data file in Quicken.  When you are home from traveling just copy the data file back to you home machine.

Since you won't be syncing to Mobile/Web the above problem will not affect this use case.

P.S. Just to be clear, you could use the Web interface and syncing, but given that the laptop is a Windows laptop that can run Quicken, the much better way to go is by installing Quicken on it and copying the data file.
