Schwab transactions download to wrong account when accounts share last 3 digits of account number

There is a closed discussion that speaks to this: "Schwab Downloads to the Wrong Account Still Happening". This happened in my downloads today, for transactions 3/15/2022. The accounts, my Trad IRA and my wife's Roth IRA, have separate logins but are gathered by a single Quicken One-Step Update.

1. How do I move the transactions to the account to which they belong?

2. Is there a workaround? For example, if I de-select one of the "being-mixed-up" accounts on One-Step Update, then update that account individually, will the transactions reliably go to the correct account?

3. Is a fix scheduled?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Guess I spoke too soon. After a successful download on 1/30/22, download from today 2/5/22 has transactions from 2 Schwab accounts ending in the same 3 last digits all going into 1 account vs. 2.

Anyone else having issues after thinking you successfully fixed this problem?

I followed the steps from Alyssa on 1/30/22 and was able to successfully download transactions into our two separate accounts ending in the same last 3 digits.

Doing a download today, we're back to having transactions from both accounts ending in the same last 3 digits all go into one of the accounts.

Anyone else having issues after thinking you had fixed the problem?

The entire Schwab issue has been a nightmare. On Feb 15th for some reason 24 pages of transactions were dumped into my former schwab account. These transctions date back to 2001 and don't have anything to do with Schwab. I was with Chase at the time. What the heck am I supposed to do with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, sounds painful. Do you have a backup prior to this 2/15 download you can restore from? Try calling the Quicken support line to speak with a specialist?

I still have not been able to get both of our accounts ending in the same last 3 digits to load to the correct accounts, they both still go into one of the accounts. I work during the day so it's hard to call Quicken support, next day off during the week I am going to call to try to resolve.

This issue remains unresolved for me. My wife and I have IRA accounts at Schwab that end in the same four numbers, with separate log-on credentials for each account. One-step update puts transactions from both IRAs into my IRA; there is no easy way to tell which transactions below to which account. The "Reconcile Shares" window for my IRA compares positions reported by Schwab for my wife's IRA, and so is meaningless.

For many years, Quicken did not have any problem correctly allocating transactions and updating positions for these accounts. The errors began when the transaction download protocol for Schwab changed late last year.

I have disabled on-line access for all Schwab accounts, cleared the account numbers and other information, and then re-enabled and re-linked the accounts, making sure that each recognized Schwab account was tied correctly to an account in Quicken. The issue remained after taking these steps.

A workaround that has been successful is to (i) disable on-line access to my IRA, (ii) update my wife's IRA, and (iii) reenable on-line access to my IRA and (iv) update it. To go through these steps each time I want to update the IRAs is cumbersome, time-consuming and kludgy.

Does Quicken have a solution to this problem?

    Windows 10 Home (19044.1586); Quicken v R38.30 (27.1.38.30)

The nightmare continues. Schwab cannot be updated since November 16th. Repeated attempts with Quicken support has not helped- complete mess as of March 26th.

I'm seeing similar issues, except Schwab transactions are being downloaded into a Fidelity account that ends in the same two numbers. The Fidelity account was linked, but the Fidelity credentials were replaced by Schwab credentials.

I was able to deactivate the Fidelity account and try again and get the account properly linked, but transactions from the past week are not being downloaded no matter what I try.
  • When I download Schwab accounts the ledger only shows the cash balance in every account. Absolutely no transactions show of any kind. Only opening cash balance. Since I've used Schwab for the past twenty years that's absurd. I have no issue downloading Vanguard account whatsoever.
