Does Citizens Bank allow for automatic download of transactions?
Recently, my Investors bank became Citizens bank and the automatic download of transactions stopped. Now I must manually download transactions using their online banking site. Why does Citizens not support Quicken automatic download? Not the technical issue but the reason behind it. Security? Cost? What is the issue?

there are tons of Quicken listed banks with the name of "Citizens"
Which exact name are you using ?

That is a question that NO USER here on this forum can answer. Only your Investors Bank, turned Citizens Bank, can answer that question.
The only people that know the cost of supporting Quicken downloads are Quicken, Inc, the aggregator (Intuit) and the financial institutions and they don't seem willing to provide that information to us mere users. I doubt that the moderators of this forum even know that information.

One way to determine which Citizens is the correct one, is to download a Web Connect .QFX file and look in it for the value of the <FID> field.
Then look in the fidir.txt file (it is hidden) on your computer or tell us what it is and we can point you to the correct Citizens.

I was just going to mention what @splasher has written above -
Go to your Citizens Bank online website - look at your account page and look for any DOWNLOAD menu.
—- If you can't find anything - then this might not be possible —-
—- Just re-read your orig posting - and it looks like you are already doing this for manual Quicken Import -
Next - look for a file format of - Quicken QFX - select that and download the QFX file -
Next - it's just a plain text file - so you can open it with Windows Notepad….
Scroll down from the top - looking for the <FID> entry, which is just the lookup number for that bank ID -Let us know what number you find - and either it will match above TA-DAH - or we can then find it in the FIDIR list.

My question was "why must I do it" not 'How do I do it." I now manually download to Quicken but it is a pain. I guess we will never know why.-1

Hello @Earl Zier,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. As you can see in splasher's earlier post (quoted below), you would need to reach out to your financial institution to find out why.
Thank you.

well .. @Earl Zier - if would please verify the FID in the downloaded QFX file, then we could try and tell why it is not working - but as yet, we are not sure exactly which bank is being downloaded…

"Citizens." FYI they tell you that you must download from their website and that they do not support update through Quicken.-1

I guess that answers your original question. Have a good day.

still would like to know the FID listed in the downloaded QFX file
as the "Citizens" entry I listed above does show the One Step Update Express Web Connect as an option ..0 -
My connection is EWC. the FI is Citizens Bank - Mid Atl Cons.web files downloaded via EWC are QBO. Don't see anything shown as FID.-1
-
well - you certainly are a confusing person….. with lots of confusing and not quite right info -
SO… now this is your bank - as you have just indicated -You say your connection is EWC - Express Web Connect - which is a Quicken online One Step Update download protocol -
And you mention QBO - which is NOT a Quicken file - and which is NOT used during One Step Update unless you are manually downloading, which should be a Quicken QFX file ….See how confusing this is -
- you say you are NOT able to download, but list EWC which is a online download protocol
- you say you have a QBO file downnloaded - but then you are doing it manually - and WRONG file format10808 10808 10808 Citizens Bank - Mid Atl Cons. Web

QBO is Quickbooks and is NOT meant to work with Quicken. I'm out of here, I have nothing more to add that will help this thread.

My apologies. I had mistakenly selected Quickbooks the last time. I have been downloading QFX files. When I go to Online Services there is a highlighted phrase to download transactions. When I open it ,it says "Adding more transactions from Citizens Bank - Mid Atl Cons.com to Quicken requires you to download a file from their website and then import the fille to Quicken." Thanks for hanging in. Citizens Bank does not do automatic transition downloads into Quicken. I appreciated your help.0
