Are posts about alternatives to Quicken not allowed?
I posted a question (and, because of my ADHD, don't really remember the specifics) about alternative software to Quicken, the other day - and it appears to have been removed or "moderated out." Is it against the board policy to discuss what we might be able to move to, manage our finances, if Quicken becomes so slow as to be unusable to us (which is where I'm heading with it, after decades of use, I fear) ?

There is a FAQs page regarding behavior and use guidelines that you might want to read through: Quicken Community Guidelines.
More specific to your question: This Community forum is a Quicken owned and moderated website. Since this is a Quicken users forum it is expected that the discussions that occur here be about Quicken, not competitor's products. Not all mentions of competitor products get removed but most are, especially when the competitor products are being promoted or people are asking about other personal finance programs because for one reason or another they feel Quicken is not meeting their wants or needs. Those types of posts are often viewed as solicitations and the Guidelines do not permit that.
Have you tried posting about the Quicken performance issue(s) you are experiencing or contacting Quicken Support? If not, you might want to try doing that. There are a lot of really experienced people here who might have some insights that you might find helpful.
If you instead want to contact Quicken Support, click here:
. Or, since you have a Premier subscription, log into your Quicken.com account and call the phone number shown there. It will give you higher priority in the queue so your wait to talk with someone might be shorter than if you call the general Support phone number.Quicken Classic Premier (US) Subscription: R60.15 on Windows 11 Home

Well, that explains it.
I have posted and commented and contacted support, many many many times. I've also just followed the posts of others complaining about the same issues that I'm having, and I see no responses from Quicken, and I watch my software performance degrade, and I get really worried about my data, so I'm looking for the opinions of experienced Quicken users, who know what Quicken has been capable of, for many years, and know what to look for in a replacement software.
I think it's unfortunate that Quicken ignores our reports of issues but then won't let us commiserate about those issues by looking into alternatives when it becomes clearer and clearer that Quicken isn't going to resolve our issues.

As I've written more than once, you don't walk into the Chevy dealership and ask them which Ford you should buy. Same concept applies to this forum paid for and maintained by Quicken, Inc.
It may seem harsh, but the idea is to not help the competition.

In my opinion, it's more like walking into a meeting of Chevy owners, some happy and some not, and asking those who are not what they're thinking of buying to replace their Chevy. Quicken may own/run this forum, but it's supposed to be for the "owners'" benefit, I think.

If that meeting of Chevy owners were held in a Chevy owned facility and people started talking about replacing their Chevy with another brand you can be pretty sure they would be asked to leave or be escorted out.
You don't think this Community is set up for users benefit? Quicken lets us pretty much post whatever we want provided it complies with the guidelines and it helps people in using and understanding Quicken.
Quicken sets the rules for our use of their website. We either abide by that or they are in their right to edit or delete non-conforming discussions. There are other non-Quicken independent forums available for having discussions about the whole spectrum of personal financial platforms. But this Community is not one of those.

There are other places where there are discussions among Quicken users that are more open to those kinds of conversations.

I'm not here to buy a Ford from a Chevy dealer! I am here because I am loosing my ability to read the soft dark text on a white background (or grey? background). I spoke again yesterday with "Chatt" who told me that there were no plans for a "Dark mode" or for a black background with white text in Quicken's future. My first version of Quicken was on a 5.25 inch disk and I have enjoyed the benefits of Quicken technology for many decades. Now my needs go beyond Quicken's current capabilities. Microsoft "does not know how to modify Quicken. All of the above answers are very reasonable to me. Still I have a lot of data that I would hate to loose.
Therefore, I ask, "Does anyone know how to get a black background with white text in my Quicken register?" A "No" here would also be reasonable. So, does anyone know of a financial program that has a black background light-colored text?

Here is a comment on a hack that might help you.
Note it is in the very long thread about the requested (idea) for having a dark mode in Quicken Windows.

I can say I do not.
But if I did say what an alternative program is it would not be in compliance with Quicken's Community guidelines and it would end up being removed. This is pretty much what this whole thread is about. While in this Quicken Community: Talk about Quicken…do not talk about competitor products.
If you want information on competitor products you will need to conduct that search or have that dialog outside of Quicken Community.

@Chris_QPW There is a much cleaner and better hack than the one I published which requires Magnifier.
In Windows 10 Settings, here it is. Note you must select the color filter Inverted. EDIT: perhaps some users would prefer Grayscale Inverted, I dunno.
Hard core dark mode guys don't like it much, but it seems fine to me (probably because I care less than the hard core guys). I don't know whether it's the same or different in Win11, which I don't have.
Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro.

In Win11, the screens to do this are different, but doing a search on "color filter" will get you there.

@Chris_QPW Thank you so much for your help. IT WORKS PERFECTLY!! I tried it on several other programs that have been a serious problem for me and it worked there as well. The step-by-step outline made it very easy, I tried to leave a message on your website but computers hate and, as usual, it won again.
@Rocket J Squirrel and @splasher, thanks to both of you as well. I appreciate your taking time to help me.

You are welcome but note that it was @Rocket J Squirrel that did the heavily lifting (he found both workarounds). 😉
