Unable to import QFX from Chase
I'm unable to import a monthly credit card statement in QFX format from Chase Bank. Other QFX imports for Bank of America are working correctly. I'm on Quicken Windows 11 version R57.12. The problem started sometime last month.
I contacted Quicken Support last week and the agent had me try a bunch of things before telling me the problem was with Chase. I contacted Chase technical support and they said there are no problems with Quicken on their end.
What is up?

Not sure what is up with your setup, but for reference I just imported a QFX file for both a checking account and credit card account from Chase without any problems.

Please elaborate upon "monthly card statement". Do you mean the transactions which appeared on that statement … or the statement itself?
I expect your answer to be the former … because the statement itself isn't/can't be QFX … but wanted to be sure.

I'm unable to import a monthly credit card statement in QFX format from Chase Bank.
do you mean you "downloaded" your CC transactions in QFX format from Chase ?
If you open the QFX file in Notepad - its just plain text - and scroll down - what is listed as the Bank ID number ?

<FID>10898 ——- this is Chase

<INTU.BID>10898 —- this is Chase0 -
Chris_QPW: Thanks, good to know.
NotACPA: Your assumption is correct - I was referring to the transactions in my monthly card statement.
Ps56k2: Correct, I downloaded my monthly transactions from the Chase website. Yes, the fields you list are all present in the file.

I have been downloading QFX files while logged into CitiBank on Chrome for several years, but now cannot. The option to create a QFX file cannot be turned on. After tedious and unproductive sessions with Quicken tech support and then with CitiBank tech support, I decided to access CitiBank using the Edge browser, and I was able to download QFX files. It is neither a CitiBank problem nor a Quicken problem. It is a Chrome problem.

Reiver: Thanks for responding, but I've tried three browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and get the same result - no import.

BUT are the FID and INTU.BID values the same? And what's the specific process by which you're downloading and importing that file?

There seems to be some confusion here. @Reiver is talking about not being able to select this at the Citi website:
Clearly if you can't select that there isn't any QFX file to look at.
As to "whose problem is this". Clearly this isn't a Quicken problem. On the other hand, is it a Citi one? Well, "maybe" as in they are responsible for the website code that is "not interacting" correctly with @Reiver 's chrome browser, but if it is just one person the more likely reason is something about that browser on that machine. Like maybe an extension that is blocking it or a setting.
As for what problem @cblume has I'm not entirely sure it is the same as @Reiver or some other problem is the downloaded QFX file that can't be imported. If it is the same can't select the QFX option on the Citi website problem, but with all web browsers then it is most likely something about your machine and if you have another machine that you can try on, I would. If in fact you have downloaded a QFX file, but just can't import it, please state that, and the exact error message/behavior that is preventing the import of that QFX file.

Oh, now I see why I was confused. There is a mixing of problems here.
This thread starts with Chase and then Citi is mentioned. Most likely two different problems.

The OP starts with "unable to import". Which is what I responded to. Didn't see/understand "unable to download"

you should start a different topic - relating to your own CITI downloading issue -
this topic is about Chase & Importing - and it gets confusing trying to carry on 2 different topic conversations0 -
Chris_QPW and NotACPA:
The values in the QFX file are exactly as you listed in your earlier message.
The process I use to import a QFX file is this:
- Download the QFX file from the Chase web site and save on my HDD.
- Open Quicken and select my Chase credit card account on the left side menu.
- Select File>File Import>Web Connect from the top menu bar
- Navigate to Downloads>[filename].QFX in the dialog box and select Open
The dialog box closes and nothing more happens. Normally, The Downloaded Tranactions summary field at the bottom of the screen indicates a bunch of new transactions to process inside the parenthesis.

Have you deleted these downloaded transactions in the past? Quicken remembers the unique Ids of the downloaded transactions and will not import them again.
One test you can make is by editing the QFX file in Notepad and change the FITID field for one of the transactions and see if that imports. You can change the FITID by just adding say a 'a' to the start or end of it.

Chris_QPW: Brilliant! In fact, I was unwittingly trying to import a duplicate transaction. The mistake is mine, not Quicken's. Thank you for helping my diagnose the problem.

@cblume that's great news. It nice that worked out.

I just noticed this problem in the last few days, probably because I seldom use my Citi card. I was unable to select the QFX file option on the Citi web site when I was in Firefox. Thought it might be a browser issue so I tried Chrome which also failed. I just tried Edge after reading this thread and was able to select QFX and successfully download/import the QFX file. I'm used to having problems with Chase, but this issue with Citi is a first for me. Thanks to the community for all the input.
