Budget Compare Report Doesn't Save "Budget Year"
When I update my saved Budget Compare reports in Quicken, everything saves correctly except for the budget year. Despite changing the "Budget Year" in the report and saving, the software consistently reverts to the earliest budget year when saved report is retrieved. All other settings, including the "date range" and "budget" are saved, only the "Budget Year" won't save. It seems there's no functionality to retain the chosen budget year upon saving.
Here's an example. I open the saved report, the budget year defaults to 2016 (historical).
I change the Budget Year (again) to 2024 and save:
When I open the report again it shows 2016!!! Ugh!!!
Additionally, I have found that if I "Customize Report" (gear icon) and make any minor modification to the report, even as simple as selecting "Difference as %" and then immediately deselect the option, the Budget Year is properly updated to show the current year. I can also just add a space at the end of the report name and then removing that space (so essentially no change) and report will then show the current year. So essentially, the "customize" forces the report to properly refresh it's defaults unlike simply retrieving a saved report.
BTW, this has long existed, I just finally got tired of manually changing it every time I retrieved the report and decided to spend a few minutes to inquire and/or report this as a bug. Is Quicken aware of this issue and when might a fix be available?

Hello @bobandsherry82,
To assist with this issue, please provide additional information. What report did you use as the starting point to create this custom report? Are you seeing this behavior in any other reports? You mentioned this issue has been going on for a long time; do you recall roughly when you first noticed it?
I look forward to your reply!

I appreciate your response and let me provide some details as you asked for.
The base report is under "Reports"→"Spending"→"Current Budget"
Now, that said. As I've tried to resolve this issue over the past day, I think I also can shed some additional information. I first start with the above report, and then Save it under "My Saved Reports & Graphs" (let's call it "BudgetReview"). When I then open "BudgetReview" the report it has the correct (most recent) budget year. I can do this repeatedly. Hmmmmm….. not what I was experiencing previously, so my QA Analyst/Testing experience goes into to analysis mode as to why I see the wrong year on my other report. As it turns out, if I open "BudgetReview" and then save then save the report, when I now re-open the report it has the oldest budget year. Ah-Ha!
So now I know what's causing it the issue, but I don't know why. As I continued to experiment, I find that if I open "BudgetReview" after making a change and saving it and then before I save it I press on the wastebasket icon on the report and save (now wiping out all the changes I've made) and save the report, when I reopen "BudgetReview" it has the correct (current) budget year. So, this tells me that whenever the report is saved under the "My Saved Reports & Graph" initially, all is fine. But if I make a change to that report and re-save it the budget year reverts to the oldest instead of the newest budget year.
To add a bit more confusion, as I kept plodding away with understanding what was potentially the problem, I found that if I change and save report then the problem occurs (wrong budget year). If I "save as" and give it a new name the problem occurs, noting that the "Save reports history" is clicked when saving. If I save without "Save reports history" checked, the report is correct (current budget year). As for when this first started, it's been literally years, may be as long as I've been using Quicken. It was simple to do and took less time to correct than it did to report it. But with some down time and tripping up on this in a report I was reviewing I decided to see if there was a known fix.
Bottom line, base report initially saved is fine. Making changes to that report and re-saving it causes the issue. Clearing the report history and saving rectifies the problem. Problem seems to be centered with saving the report history.
I hope this helps to locate the issue. Let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you for the additional information,
I'm able to replicate the issue you are seeing when I have "Save reports history" selected. I forwarded this issue to the proper channels to be further investigated. In the meantime, if you haven't already done so, please navigate to Help > Report a problem and submit a problem report with log files attached and (if you are willing) a sanitized copy of your data file in order to contribute to the investigation.
While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue. The more problem reports we receive, the better.
We apologize for any inconvenience!
Thank you.

Just to add to the post, I'm having the exact same problem, and I've also had it for years.
Thanks.

For now, based on my experience with tracking down the cause, when you make a change, use the "Save As" option and with the "Save reports history" unchecked. When you save you may want to give it a new name so you have your original to refer back to just in case.
