Today's update R59.6

I installed the update and my Quicken stopped functioning.

First, the screen started flashing. After settling down, I found my credit card balances were still the same, but my checking account had grown by about $19,000.

I installed a backup copy (made yesterday), but I can't uodate it. Once step update just freezes.

Anyone else having a problem with this update?

I just Quit and re-launched and it wasn't offered to me though I see it is available under "Download Latest Version" in Help.

I'll sit tight on R58.14 until others have chimed-in here about their experiences.

I went to do an OSU this morning. When I started Quicken I was asked to install R59.6 but I never install new updates when they first are available. I clicked to Not Install. Quicken loaded as normal and I ran an OSU which ran as expected BUT did not download the transactions at all. Only thing different today was Quicken wanting to install R59.6 which I declined.

Windows 11 (2 separate computers)..... Quicken Premier.. HAVE USED QUICKEN CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1985.

    Hello @Richard Sw,

To start with, I suggest that you please try validating and/or super validating your data file. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.

    Validate:

    1. File
    2. Validate and Repair File...
    3. Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.

    Super Validate:

    1. File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Super Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    I hope this helps!

I had tons of ghost/old uncleared transactions appear in checking and credit card accounts this morning. Some related to updated bills or recurring transactions (it duplicated rent receipts for my tenants for many months). Some were old fraud charges- where I had about 50 $2 charges and then they were reversed- I had deleted these 100+ transactions a year ago when they first showed up because they aren't valuable and don't impact my balance (never accepted into register- and now I get to delete them all again, yay). A property tax bill I had previously put in my checking account for future payment, paid on cc instead- and deleted from my checking account, showed up back in there as an uncleared transaction again. Spent an hour so far cleaning up accounts.

    Quicken Jasmine,

Thanks for the help. I tried the Validate and Super Validate….it found one small error in a recurring transaction and fixed it. Other than that, thhis did not work.

Uninstalled and re-installed Quicken. Ran the update again. It either froze or I got crazy and inaccuate results. 3rd try of reinstallation resulted in the software not recoginizing my my financial institutions. I tried to re-connect via Web Connect and that function doesn't accept my Vault log in creditials.

I've used Quicken for many years and have had some problems in the past…..nothing like this. My 2 hour gym time went up in smoke today.

    Quicken Jasmine,

Now into day 2 trying to get Quicken to work after installing R59.6 (September 2024). I've uninstalled and re-installed Quicken multiple times. Verified and Super Verified multiple times (V and SV found one error in my Memorized transaction and Bill Pay)…I deleted that transaction, but no changes to the problem..

One Step Update still stalls immediately after initiating. Everything freezes, so the only way to get out of Quicken is to use Task Manager. I've tried to delete my accounts, but the system freezes when I type "YES" and hit the Delete button. Again, Task Manager to the rescue.

I saw and followed the steps on a thread "Major Problems after 57.26 this morning". This refers to checking Ransomware Protection on Windows 10. Mine wasn't turned on, so this wasn't the problem.

Is this a Windows 10/Quicken problem? Do I need to download W11? I tried W11 when it came out, but didn't care for it, so I'd rather not go down that path.

It's starting to look like the only solution is to restore the hard drive and re-install everything on my laptop.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks again for your help.

    PS to Jasmine

I installed previous patches to see if that might fix the problem…no luck.

Installed 59.6 today. System crashes when I click the "customize" button for a report via the Reports Center. Customize works OK after the report has been displayed.

10/1 Updated this morning and lost quicken altogether. I do not know the update # as I just update automatically as long as it is a trusted quicken update

Called quicken support and held on hold for 20 Minutes. Going to my local computer store and get it fixed as I have had to do in the past

I had a number of transactions at a financial institution that were dated 9/27, but when they were downloaded to Quicken using Direct Connect, they came down with a date of 9/30. And, 9/30 was still in the future. This happened with multiple accounts at UBS.

    Advice to all Quicken users.

After numerous updates and crashes in the past, I reverted to Version 44.20 and never upgrade to current versions. My only issue is trying to find a way to stop getting the updates all together. I wish Quicken would provide an "Opt Out" option so I can stop the nuisance of getting updates that crash my system.

I'm running R59.10 without difficulty. And R44.20, which was previously suggested, can't receive ANY downloads … not even data from your FIs. Bad suggestion.

Do what I do, turn on User Account Control (UAC) in Windows. This makes a program request authorization from you before installing. When Quicken starts up with an available update the UAC opens up a dialog box asking me if I want to install the update or not. I always say no and wait a few days until I know the recent upgrade is stable. Quicken doesn't usually ask after that and just shows the update available at the top of the OneStep dialog box. That way you control when you install it.

Yep, that is what I have done for a long time. None of my software is automatically updated. Saves a lot of grief.
