How can I set up Quicken Classic Deluxe to automatically backup one data file per day?

I'm setting up a new Win 11 PC. I'm unable to configure Quicken Classic Deluxe (version R59.35) to automatically backup (when closing Quicken) one data file per day in a folder that I choose. I have the "Automatic local backups" box selected with "Backup after running Quicken" set to 1 time. I also have "Manual backup reminder" box selected and "Remind me after running Quicken" set at 1 time. When I close Quicken, it created a "backup" folder and saves files with a time hack. I want Quicken to automatically save a backup file in a folder that I choose (not a Quicken-created "Backup" folder) with a date and no time hack, i.e., one backup file per day. I also don't get a manual backup reminder. I was able to set up Quicken Classic Deluxe (same version) to automatically backup one data file per day (with a reminder) on my old Win 10 PC, with identical backup settings. Please help and thanks!

    That is a function of the Manual Backup process.
    When you exit Quicken and it's time for creating the backups, in addition to the Automatic Backup being sent to (usually) the \Quicken\Backup folder, there normally is a popup prompt asking you to specify the drive letter and path for the Manual Backups.
    However, if you ever clicked on "Do not show again" or similar, this prompt won't show. To get it back, click "Reset Quicken Warnings" in Edit / Preferences / Alerts and Messages then restart Quicken. You should now get the Manual Backup prompt where you can update the backup destination path.

    But NOTE, that you can't reset just that one warning … so you'll need to turn off any other warnings that you don't want to see after that action.

    I reset Quicken warnings, closed and restarted Quicken twice, and still don't get a reminder. But the main problem is not being able to save only one backup file per day in a folder that I select. Thx anyway.

    You can change the location of the automatics backup. Go into Edit/Preferences/Backup. You'll see Open/Change backup directory on the right, Select change. Use the Browse folder to navigate to your preferred location. Bear in mind, if's it USB or a local Network drive, it needs to be connected to perform the backup. As far as I know, you can not change the name template for the auto backups. You can for the manual one.

    As for "one a day", the frequency is usage based not time. If you only launch Quicken once a day, then one is all you get.

    As for the reminder, there are several other threads about the lack of the popup. I had the issue as well but was able to fix mine. There are steps to attempt to resolve the issue in those other threads (some have been discussed above). Have a look at them. These steps did clear the issue for many but not for all. Quicken Support is aware of the issue and is working towards a permanent fix. You may wish to open a support ticket directly with Quicken to help raise the priority of the issue.

    Go to Edit > Preferences > Backup and check the Manual backup reminder box. Set the number of times to 1.

    Now each time you exit Quicken you should get the backup reminder. Leave the Don't show again box un-checked and click on Backup.

    Now you should see the Quicken Backup dialog. Check the Add date to backup file name box and leave the Also add time to backup box un-checked. Select the folder where you would like the backup to be saved and click on Save backup. Quicken should remember these settings.

    If you run Quicken more than once per day, you should get the backup prompt each time you exit. Backups saved after the first run will over-write previous backups for that day. Of course if you do not run Quicken on a particular day, there will be no backup saved for that day.

    If you change to a different QDF file while running Quicken, you will not be prompted to back up the first file.

    The manual backup reminder box is set at one but I still don't get a reminder. I've also reset quicken warnings and done/checked everything else mentioned in this thread, yet the problem persists. Once again, I'm using the same settings on the same Quicken version (R60.25) installed on my Win 10 PC and have no problems. I'm able to save a single daily backup file (when closing Quicken) in a folder that I choose (not a Quicken-created "Backup" folder) with a date and no time hack. I suppose Quicken disabled this function for Win 11 PCs.
