Install process continues to stall at the Optimizing and Executing phase during update to R61.20

Can we get a Community Update from Quicken on the expected resolution time of this installation/upgrade problem?
As others have said in the past, this stall can take (my computer) from 30 minutes to a couple of hours or more to finish.
Thanks,
- Carey

Thank you for your reply,
From what I can see, it was the solution provided in the alert back in 2023 when the issue was trending. There was a program update that corrected the issue for the majority of affected users. I can see there's still a ticket open for those who were still reporting the issue in 2024 (QWIN-22009).
Thank you!

I had no problem with that update. SO, have you contacted Q Support, via the link at the top of this page, re: your issue?
Also, is there anything non-standard re: your installation? Such as running QWin in an emulator on a non-Win machine?

No, and No.
I'm just asking for an update from Quicken.

Download and install the manual (formerly "mondo") patch.
Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, as of 2025 using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro & Win11 Pro on 2 PCs.

And do make sure that neither your Antivirus software nor MS OneDrive (or any other cloud backup program) gets in the way of the installation process.

Thanks for the reminder!
I did do that and it did a complete uninstall before it installed. The mondo patch installs differently than the normal updates, so if it fixed that I'll see it on the next update. It set some of my custom settings back to default. Luckily I was able to pull my Quicken.ini out of my backup files and use The information in it to set the one's I wanted back using the Quicken interface. Prior to all of that I Validated/Super Validated and there were no real issues.
Still, I would like to see Quicken update everyone as requested above :)

Yep, good advice and I'm good there 😊
My Backup program (Acronis) is run in the wee hours of the morning while I'm sleeping, so that's not it. While it has the capability to provide Anti-Virus and other protection, I have that turned off. I use Windows Defender - which most software providers that I use certify (or practically demand) it.
OneDrive is not setup on my main computer. My backups go to a shared drive on my server. I have OneDrive installed there and manually move the backups (with .bat files) to OneDrive after the backup process finishes.
With all of these suggestions, are all of you saying the hangup on Optimizing files doesn't happen to you?

Hello @imdcareys,
There was an alert for this problem back in 2023, but it has since been marked resolved.
The resolution from that alert was to go to your Task Manager and kill the "msi clean up", then test to see if that resolves the issue. If you haven't already done so, I recommend giving it a try.
Please let me know how it goes!

Thanks for that info Kristina. Is it a solution, or a workaround?
If it happens again (after what I've documented above), I will try that. I've posted your suggestion on my monitor so I'll see it and be ready to try. There are so many disparate posts on this topic that its very difficult and time consuming to find anything valuable to try.
While the alert you mentioned is marked resolved, I just know that others are still having the issue when I search and sort by newest. Some are still seeing it. That may also be why I don't see this alert from 2023 :)
Thanks again,
-Carey

Hi Kristina,
I installed R61.21 this morning. The "Optimizing" message appeared, and after two minutes I tried the workaround. As soon as I hit End Task on MSIClean App the install displayed the "Update successful!" message. I will continue to monitor it on the next update.

Have you checked your Windows system for corrupted Registry keys?
That appears to be what's causing MSIClean to run in circles …1 -
Update: Still waiting for next software update to see if the optimizing process was fixed by end task on MSIClean.
