duplicated transfer / automatically entering paychecks (Q Mac)

As the title says I'm having two issues:
- my paycheck is directly deposited to my primary bank (Wells Fargo) with additional direct deposits (Quicken transfers) to my credit union and to Schwab Bank. I received a single paycheck on 2/28; however, there are two transfers recorded in my credit union account, both directing to the single paycheck recorded in the Wells Fargo account.
- I have my paycheck "Mark as Deposited" set to "I'll do this myself," but with the latest release Quicken is now entering paychecks weeks in advance i.e. as of today (3/13) I have paychecks entered for 3/14 and 3/28.
I'm running Quicken for Mac 8.1.1

Hello @bravoechofoxtrot,
Thanks for reaching out and detailing the issues you're experiencing. Let’s troubleshoot both of these concerns.
Regarding the duplicate transfer issue, do both transfer transactions in your credit union account have the same unique Quicken transaction ID? If you delete one, does it reappear upon the next sync? Have you checked whether your paycheck reminder is set up to create transfers automatically, potentially duplicating them when the real transactions download?
For the paychecks entering automatically, even though you have "Mark as Deposited" set to "I'll do this myself," Quicken shouldn’t be entering future paychecks unless an automated setting is overriding this. Have you noticed if these early paycheck entries are coming from a Bill & Income Reminder, or are they being downloaded from the financial institution? Have you recently edited the paycheck setup, which might have triggered an unintended change?
Let me know!

Hello Quicken Jasmine,
Thanks for your quick reply. Today it gets a little weirder…the "extra" transaction has now moved to 3/13 instead of 2/27. How do I determine the Quicken transaction ID?
Re: paychecks entering automatically, until this year I had a separate series for each biweekly paycheck, but deleted a series since all installments are now the same. Both installments were/are set to "I'll do this myself," and things worked fine until very recently (maybe the 8.0 or 8.1 update?)
Thanks again for your help.0 -
Thank you for your reply,
To view the transaction ID in Quicken for Mac, click the Columns option near the lower right corner of the register, then select FITID.
Regarding the paycheck issue, are the reminders possibly being matched to paycheck transactions that download, and being pulled into your register automatically that way?
Thank you!
Quicken Kristina

It turns out (unsurprisingly, I guess) that these two issues are linked: the "extra" transfer is linked to the future (two weeks out) paycheck. Both transfers have a unique FITID in my credit union account, but since the future deposit has not yet hit my primary bank account there is no FITID for it. How can this be resolved?

Thank you for your reply,
If both transfers have a unique FITID, then that indicates something may have changed on the financial institution's end, causing the transaction to be downloaded twice. Did these transfers download from the credit union? What is the name of the credit union you bank with? Did you recently deactivate/reconnect your account(s) with them in Quicken, or have you reset your account(s) in Quicken? Has the extra transfer downloading happened only once, or is a recurring issue?
Was 13 March the date of the reminder that extra transfer that downloaded incorrectly matched to? If so, that is the most likely reason that the date changed.
If you haven't already marked the transactions as reviewed, you should be able to right click on the transaction it incorrectly matched to and select Unmatch Transaction.
Unmatching it will not turn it back into a reminder. Instead, it will be in your register as a manual transaction (orange pencil icon).
Once the correct transaction downloads, you can manually match it to the correct transaction by dragging and dropping the manual transaction onto the downloaded transaction.
I hope this helps!

It's been 9 days since my last update due to waiting to see what would happen when my next paycheck deposited, and so far it appears the duplicated transfer to my credit union has resolved, but Quicken continues to automatically enter my next paycheck (i.e. scheduled in two weeks.)
I DO NOT WANT THIS AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED!!!
I have ALWAYS had "Mark as Deposited" set to "I'll do it myself," yet Quicken continues to ignore that. Please help with a resolution.0 -
As long as your paycheck transaction has a schedule there will be a scheduled transaction reminder in your register showing the next upcoming transaction, and I don't think there's a way to have a paycheck with preconfigured splits other than to have a scheduled transaction.
The only thing you can do is set your register to not show reminders so you won't see it but that setting applies to all reminders in that account register, it's not something you can apply to one specific reminder.

@bravoechofoxtrot A scheduled transaction being visible in your register is different than marking it as Deposited. When you say Quicken is automatically entering your Paycheck scheduled in two weeks, is that transaction in gray? That just means it's scheduled; it doesn't turn black until you manually mark it as deposited (or a transaction downloads which auto-matches with the next scheduled instance).
Here are two paycheck transactions. The bottom one in the past has been marked as deposited; the top one in the future has not yet been marked as deposited:
As @Jon said, you can set your register not to show any future scheduled transactions: click the small clock icon in the upper right of your register and select Don't Show Reminders from the dropdown menu. But then you won't see any scheduled transactions — even when the scheduled date passes; you'd have mark it deposited on the Bills & Income screen, or download a transaction which auto-matches with the scheduled one.

@Jon and @jacobs - thank you for the replies. I should have included that I have Quicken configured to "not show reminders," so I am not seeing any upcoming scheduled transactions in my register. My next paycheck is being recorded as a deposit.
I've had Quicken configured this way from when I first set it up (I transitioned from Quicken for Windows a few years ago). It has only been very recently that I have seen this happen.

@bravoechofoxtrot That's for your reply, but I'm a little confused. You said Quicken is automatically entering your next paycheck, so I thought you mean you were seeing the next instance of the scheduled transaction, in gray, in your register. You're saying now that you have your register set to "Don't Show Reminders"? So were are you seeing the next paycheck? On the Bills & Income > Income screen? That's what that screen is designed to do: show upcoming income (and upcoming bills, on the Bills screen).
My next paycheck is being recorded as a deposit.
So I need more clarity about this. Your next paycheck is — well, will be in the future — a deposit. So it should show on the Bills & Income > Income screen with a date two weeks in the future. It should not show in your register if you have your register set to not show reminders. Is that where you're seeing it? As a transaction above the green "today" line? And the transaction is black, not gray? If so, what is the icon in the left status column? I'm wondering whether Quicken has matched your current paycheck with the next instance of your scheduled transaction, resulting from you prior problem — in other words, perhaps it's out of sync and matching A with B and B with C, instead of A with A, B with B, and C with C. If you could post a screenshot (don't include the amount), it might help get us on the same page and better understanding.

@jacobs - yes, I'm seeing my next paycheck (04/11) recorded in my checking account register as a deposit, above the green line and with a pencil icon. What would you like a screenshot of?

Is the transaction above the green line black or gray? What color is the pencil icon?

@jacobs the transaction above the green line is black, and the pencil icon is orange.

And you are not at any point pressing the Mark as Paid button on the Bills & Income tab, correct?
If you have a scheduled transaction reminder and the corresponding transaction gets downloaded from the bank, then you don't have to do anything further with that transaction - it should mark it as paid automatically. If you press the Mark as Paid button after downloading the transaction it's going to mark the next scheduled transaction as paid, not the current one, which would explain what you're seeing.

@Jon - correct, I am not pressing Mark as Deposited. Quicken is entering the deposit automatically, even though "Mark as Deposited" is set to "I'll do it myself." Obviously the transaction dated 04/11 has not yet been downloaded since it has not yet occurred, and in the Bills & Income section the next scheduled paycheck listed is for 04/25. At this point I'm probably just going to delete the paycheck series and re-schedule, but I'm still unsure what changed.
