Target Transaction doesn't download anymore since early-mid March 2025

Spent 2 hours on the phone with Quicken and still couldn’t get Target transactions to download. Quicken suggested I call Target. Spent 40 minutes on the phone with Target and they claimed it is a Quicken issue. So frustrating!

I am having this same issue with my Target account. As someone else mentioned, the "Online Balance:" at the bottom is updated and correct, but the new transactions are not downloaded. This is making it impossible to track this card.
I have no issues with the 2FA, that all works, it just does not download new transactions. Also, I have other accounts that use "Express Web Connect" (no plus sign) that are working fine. It seems Quicken is just having issues connecting to and/or downloading transactions for Target and maybe Nordstrom, from other reports.

Hello All,
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue to the Community, although we apologize for any frustration or inconvenience experienced.
This issue has been reported to our Development and Product teams for further investigation and resolution. Though we do not currently have an ETA, once a solution is created it will be made available as part of a future release.
If you would like to contribute to the investigation, please provide the following information:
- Navigate to Help>Report a Problem and send a problem report with log files attached.
- Provide a screenshot from the financial institution's website, showing the posted transactions that are not downloading into your Quicken (If you're not comfortable posting it here, then please include it as an attachment in the problem report).
- Provide a screenshot of the problem account register in your Quicken file, with the area that the missing transactions should have downloaded to visible. (If you're not comfortable posting it here, then please include it as an attachment in the problem report).
- Provide at least 3 sample transactions that have not downloaded into Quicken and were not entered into the register any other way. Please provide the date, payee, and amount for those transactions. (If you're not comfortable posting it here, then please include it in the description section of the problem report).
Thank you!

I verified my contact information. restarted quicken, and still wouldn't download the transactions. I then disconnected and reconnected the account and still nothing.

I have attempted three times to "report a problem," but Quicken always says I have exceeded the 10 file limit, which I haven't. And then, to make things even more frustrating, Quicken gives me only the option of closing their message, which erases everything I've written. So here's the deal. I thought everything was finally fixed when I was finally able to download into Quicken the 4-28-25 Target statement payment and earlier transactions which hadn't properly downloaded. But watching all the continuing comments, I then noticed that nothing from Target had actually downloaded since 4-28 even though Quicken says there were no new transactions to download. As you can see from the attached Target site screenshot, that's not correct. Those new May transactions have not downloaded into Quicken as you can see from my Quicken Target account screenshot. Another thought - why don't you fix that "report a problem" site so that it takes additional files, and why not keep the report open (so that it can be fixed) after you cryptically announce that the unstated (up until that moment) file limit has been exceeded. What a ridiculous site that is. Mike O'Brien

I don't know if anyone is keeping score, but I have the same problem as the others on this thread. I am able to connect (2FA required for every single connection), but no transactions are downloaded. A note to Quicken and Target's connection teams: You have supposedly been working on this problem now for what is going into the THIRD calendar month, as the first posting in this thread was in March. Not a good look…

For those of you who are not able to download transactions, it may be because of what I experienced — it only downloads when the statement closes.
My statement closed on May 20, 2025, and I was able to finally download all transactions since April 2025. I had to to 2FA twice, I had it send to email, not text, and then it downloaded. Now I will deactivate the online accounts in Target Red Card so it doesn't attempt to download over the next month, ask me 2FA, and deliver nothing.
I don't like this. I don't like having to process a ton (we live walking distance behind Target) transactions at one time. I don't like having to do 2FA during a Quicken update. And I especially don't like having to deactivate online access until a month from now. But I guess this is what we have to deal with for the subscription price we pay, and the 5% cashback from Target. Can't wait until the quarter when Discover does 5% cashback on Target, and you bet I'll be turning off that Target card then.2 -
@Quicken Jasmine how do I unsubscribe from this thread? I've unclicked on the bookmark but I still keep getting notices. I've closed my Target card so have no further interest in this ongoing drama.

@DebinHI Have you tried to "unsubscribe" from the thread using that option on the email that comes to you? See attached photo. I don't really know if that will unsubscribe you from all Quicken Community mail or just from this thread, but perhaps Jasmine could weigh in on that. Mike O'Brien

@DLCPhoto - Thank you! Provided the opportunity for Quicken to resolve an impactful and lingering issue, reasonable expectations have run thin.
@AllanM - Given I have been a user and supported Quicken for over 3 decades, my feedback is hardly "whining" and was factual. As the company moved to a subscription based model, so do changes in customer expectations for reliable service for all subscribers! Expressing frustration and disappoint is my prerogative and were not directed at you. Regardless of who made what change, there is a partnership between Target and Quicken to overcome the problem. As with many other posters, 4 weeks disruption is not reasonable nor acceptable.
You may judge postings and posters, but this a forum for Quicken Windows Subscription Members to interact with Quicken, get problem solving guidance and convey product or service disappointments or frustrations. Not a social media platform to target disliked posts, opinions, communication style or content, Therefore, respectively you should probably keep your perceptions of posters and opinions to yourself, and focus such energy on motivating a resolution to a now reoccurrence of the issue since the end of April-2025.

MintNew User posted: For those of you who are not able to download transactions, it may be because of what I experienced — it only downloads when the statement closes.
Interesting — Target statement posted for me, and I attempted download. According to the website, there are two newly posted transactions on the credit card dated 3 days ago. OSU successfully downloaded the payment I made last week, but NOT the two new transactions.
So it very well may be that Target's new "improved" credit card system only sends data to Quicken for completed/closed statements, not for completed/posted transactions.
Sending report via quicken "report a problem".
2 -
However — the download reconciliation downloaded the full posted statement balance, which includes the two transactions that did not download. So the download itself is out of balance by the transactions that did not download.
@Quicken Jasmine I think this information, that the balance is downloading though not the transactions, is new. Please make sure the tech team working on this is aware. Thanks.

I am seeing the same behavior as @Bob@45 and @MintUserNew are reporting. Actual transactions only seem to download after a statement closes. Otherwise a useless Balance transaction is downloaded.

Thank you for the updated information,
To confirm, once the statement closes on Target's end, then Quicken is able to download the transactions from that statement period, but nothing newer?
Thank you!

Yes, that is my experience as of this morning. It does seem to download the final account balance including newer transactions, but the newer transactions themselves do not download.

I have also been unable to download transactions from Target since March 2025. I tried downloading only a closed statement's worth of data (as suggested elsewhere in this community), but that did not work either. I still receive the message: "Quicken is currently unable to verify the financial institution information for this download. Please try again later." I've been "trying again later" for three months to no avail.
Quicken—Please work with Target and get this fixed! A paid subscription that does not work properly for months is unacceptable!
If anyone else has found a successful work around beyond the closed statement's worth of data which did not work for me, please do share!

Hello @arlenec,
Thank you for letting us know you're also seeing an issue. Based on your description of the issue, and on the problem report you sent today, it sounds like you're encountering issues importing a QFX file into your Quicken to update your Target account. That issue has already been reported in a separate ticket, CTP-13044.
In the meantime, one work-around that has worked for some customers is manually editing the ORG, FID, and INTU.BID in the QFX file.
See this earlier comment for more information:
I hope this helps!

Thank you Kristina for posting how to fix the .QFX file. That worked for me to download the most recent 3 days of transactions since my last statement.

Downloading transactions worked for a while for me after the March issue, and the 2FA was introduced. But then downloading transactions stopped for me around the end of April. I have transactions that are 3 weeks old to 4 days old that are not downloading. No errors. It just says there was nothing to download. I tried resetting the account. No help. 2FA occurs every time I try. No errors with that either. And in the One Step Update Summary for Target, it reports the current online balance, which is correct! So there is some communications happening.

Yes, this is what appears to be happening.

I can confirm that my Target billing period ended yesterday and today Quicken was able to download the missing transactions from the past month. However, and maybe unrelated, when I first opened Quicken today it had a message that my data file already existed and everything from about the past year was missing from all of my accounts, etc. I was going to restore from a backup from last week but first checked where my data file is stored and saw one from yesterday in addition to the one it had opened, so I closed it and opened the one from yesterday and it was fine. Deleted the one it made with a whole year of missing data. I thought that was what fixed the Target issue, but after reading the past weeks comments here and checking my closing date, it seems the issue is Target not providing the transactions until the statement has closed.
Going to try the QFX fix for the next set of transactions if they do not download automatically.

I haven't been using my Target card because of these problems. The downloads of no transactions have been working fine until today. I used the card for a few transactions in the last week. Today, when I tried one-step update, the 2FA worked fine, but Quicken is telling me that there are "Connection Problems." It also tells me the the account has been updated, though no transactions are downloaded. The online balance is correct. I really wish this would get fixed. It's been several months since it worked correctly.

I can confirm that I experienced the same issue today, although I did not encounter the unrelated problems others have mentioned. After initiating the request and completing the MFA process, my transactions did download—however, only for the statement that closed today.
That said, this significantly limits the value of connecting my account to Quicken, as it appears I’m only able to download transactions once a month, after the statement period ends.

@Mike O'Brien thank you! I was going crazy trying to find the unsubscribe option. Funny, your message never made it to my inbox but all the others did! Hard to believe this Target issue is still dragging on, months later. Not missing my card!

@DebinHIBasically, it now works, but the transactions don't download to Quicken until the statement does on about the 28th of the month. It isn't clear why Target doesn't upload the transactions to Quicken as they occur like all my other financial instututions, but, from what I read, Target appears to be facing some difficult economic headwinds just now. Regards, Mike O'Brien

My billing period closed, so I tried again. The months worth of transactions finally downloaded and matched. Will have to wait and see if new transactions will download before the end of the next period.

It appears the Target Download to Quicken is Down again. Every time I attempt to Update in Quicken, I do receive a 6 digit Verification Code. Sometimes it takes receiving three codes for the account to Update and I cannot receive transactions after 5/27/2025

@MesaM - Target apparently now only makes their transactions available for Quicken's One Step Update when they issue your monthly statement. For me that happens on the 28th of the month, and at that time the individual transactions also update on Quicken. I don't care for that procedure so I forego the 5% Target card discount and use my Visa or Mastercard, which update daily, when shopping at Target.

I was able to login into the target website and manually download the .QFX file but when I try to import into Quicken Classic Premier I get a "unable to verify the financial institution information" error. I sent a trouble ticket in to Quicken via the app (Help→Report a problem)
