Buying Investments showing up in Interest Income
When I buy shares in my investment account, a negative cash amount is showing up as negative interest income in Planning. Anyone know how to stop this from happening?
Example: I buy 10 shares at $25 a share. "Action" in my investment account is showing as "Bought". Investment amount is showing as +$250. Cash amount is showing as -$250. Cash Balance column for the investment account goes down by $250. I'm thinking all is good.
However, when I go over to the Planning Tab, under personal income, I'm showing the interest income line as -$250 (negative) for the month.
Tried changing "bought" to "shares added" - it overstates the portfolio value by the $250.
Anyone else having this issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

Hello @BriJoiSling,
Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this problem. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information. When did you first notice this issue? Where exactly are you seeing the negative interest income (under the Planning tab, there is a budgets tab, Debt Reduction tab, Lifetime Planner tab, Tax Center tab, and Savings Goals tab)? If possible, please provide a screenshot of what you are seeing, with any personal information redacted. If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.
I look forward to your reply!

Thank you Kristina. I just noticed the negative amounts last week, and I am not sure what has changed. It is in the Planning section, under budgeting. I have been using this for years and have never had an issue, so I am not sure what changed. I have attached screen shots, please let me know if anything else would be helpful.

Thank you for your reply,
I tried to replicate this issue in my Quicken, but wasn't able to get it to behave the way you describe.
What kind of investment account is this happening in (brokerage, 401k, IRA, etc.)? Is this happening with only one specific security/holding? If so, which one is this happening with? If you have more than one investment account, does this affect all of the accounts?
Thank you!

It is happening in 2 Roth IRA's and in a Trust account that has mutual funds. It seems to be when I am buying funds from the cash in the account.

Thanks for the images.
At first glance, the three Buy transactions seem to be OK.One more question:
When you go into Edit Account Details for the IRA accounts and click on the Tax Schedule button at the bottom of the view, what tax categories show up in the two fields for Transfers In/Out?
AFAIK, for IRA accounts they should be something like below, for brokerage accounts they should be blank0 -
The brokrage account was blank already. I changed the Roth IRA's, but it didn't change anything in the planning budget.

I tried to change the way that I imputed the transaction. I changed it from "accounts cash balance" to the "From" choice and then just chose that account. This took it out of my interest income on the planning page, but then the cash was still in the account. So that fixed one problem but made another. Any other suggestions please???
