Overdue bill reminder disappears when doing a 1-step update

I have manual bill reminders that I intentionally delay for payment, and in the past these showed up in my bill reminders area as "overdue". Now, these disappear when I do a 1-step update.

They completely disappear, are not credited anywhere, they're just 'gone'.

Is this a new setting or something?

    Hello @jjkrogs,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    1. Are these manual bill reminders linked to any online billers, or are they entirely standalone (created manually without any online sync)?
    2. When the overdue reminders disappear, do they also vanish from the Bills & Income > Projected Balances view, or just the main Bills & Income tab?
    3. If you go to Tools > Manage Bill & Income Reminders, do the missing entries still appear in the list after a 1-step update?
    4. Are these reminders set as Auto Enter or Remind Me?
    5. Did this behavior start recently, possibly after a Quicken update? If so, which version are you currently running? (You can check under Help > About Quicken.)

Let me know what you find!

I'm having the same problem. This issue has appeared only in the past 2 or 3 weeks. Overdue Bill reminders simply delete the current one & update to the next scheduled date. This is really messing up the projected balance in my checking account.

During OSU, does a transaction arrive in the download which can be matched to the overdue reminder?
Do you automatically accept downloaded transactions into your register?
In that case I would expect Quicken to record the reminder into the register, match the downloaded transaction to the register transaction and advance the reminder to the next instance.

I too am having this issue for over a month now. Reminders were created manually and after I do an online update they disappear for the current month reminder but next month they are still there (and not just overdue ones, ones that should be reminding me in a week or two are also disappearing - i.e., upcoming). I have tried resetting the reminders to start in the current month, but they keep disappearing. Basically the 'reminders' are not reminding me consistently. Based on questions in a prior post, I'm providing this additional information.

My current version is R63.21 with build #27.1.63.21. When I look under Tools/Manage Bill & Income Reminders they are missing from there too (upcoming should be for August, but they are showing up for September). My Reminders are set to remind me (not auto enter).

Also I have noticed that the Estimate Amount for Me setting is frequently being reset to OFF. I

Basically reminders are not working as they used to and have turned out to be not helpful since I can't rely on them.

Would appreciate any guidance to help solve this issue.

Has ANYONE had luck with getting this resolved? I almost missed paying 2 bills this month, because the reminders disappeared for August, but are still there for the next month and beyond. I really can't rely on reminders anymore.

I believe I've already answered these in my original post, but here again:

    1. Are these manual bill reminders linked to any online billers, or are they entirely standalone (created manually without any online sync)? Manual bill reminders I set up for accounts I sync with Quicken
    2. When the overdue reminders disappear, do they also vanish from the Bills & Income > Projected Balances view, or just the main Bills & Income tab? They disappear from both
    3. If you go to Tools > Manage Bill & Income Reminders, do the missing entries still appear in the list after a 1-step update? No, they are disappearing from there too
    4. Are these reminders set as Auto Enter or Remind Me? Remind Me
    5. Did this behavior start recently, possibly after a Quicken update? If so, which version are you currently running? (You can check under Help > About Quicken.) My current version is R63.21 with build #27.1.63.21 - this behavior has been going on since at least June

I really hope you can help. I'm to the point that since I can't rely on this functionality anymore, I'm going to start looking for a replacement software that I can rely on. Thank you in advance.

  • @KarenJG when you enter these payment reminders into the account register, are you getting a popup and asking if this is the payment for XXXX bill scheduled for x/x/xx?

If so, if you answer Yes to these pop-ups, the reminder will be ignored and not posted to the account register. There have been many discussions about this confusing prompt.

Just a shot in the dark here.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, I only get that pop-up when I enter the transaction that I already have a reminder for (which would be correct). Entering a reminder does not generate the pop-up.

Just one other thought … I've been having this problem since about June (worked fine before), but I did set up my Quicken to sync with the cloud so I could access it via the mobile app. Could this have caused the problem?

  • @KarenJG that definitely could be the cause of your issue. Try turning off sync and wait until you have a delayed payment and then do an update to see if you continue to have the issue.

ok, thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that

  • @KarenJG the other thing to try, if you haven't done so already, is a data file validate.

File → Validate and Repair File, and then select "Validate file". Review the validate log for any messages.

You can also do a super validate. Hold Ctrl-Shift while clicking on "Validate and Repair File".

Be sure to have sync turned on when you do the data file validate.

Ok, thanks. I'll wait and see if turning off sync works first, then I'll try the data file validate. Really appreciate your suggestions.

Just a follow-up on turning off they sync. I think that has worked. No reminders have disappeared since then. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Thank you for the follow-up,

I'm glad to hear that turning off Sync worked!

If the issue returns, or you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out!
