With the cutover deadline of 8/20 approaching has anyone seen any resolution of any of the issues reported?

From earlier post by @Quicken Kristina :

Here is the list of issues that are currently being investigated under CTP-13955:

    • Missing accounts: Investment accounts not shown in the account linking screen, preventing setup or reconnection.
    • Incorrect share balances: Share quantities downloaded with reduced precision (e.g., 2 decimal places instead of 3), leading to inaccurate holdings and potential placeholder entries.
    • Misclassified securities: Money Market Funds (e.g., FDRXX, FZFXX, SPAXX) are being treated inconsistently—sometimes as cash, other times as holdings, or disappearing altogether.
    • Transaction duplication: Historical transactions redownload as new entries and fail to match existing register data, forcing manual cleanup.
    • Account display mode changes: Investment accounts that were previously set to “Complete” tracking revert to “Simple” without user action.
    • Incorrect transaction placeholders: Cash management accounts show erroneous transactions with incorrect labels and values, sometimes doubling balances.
    • CDs misrepresented as stocks: Certificates of Deposit are converted to stocks with inflated share quantities and distorted prices.
    • Net worth discrepancies: All of the above lead to incorrect account balances and distorted net worth calculations.

For issues with missing transactions, duplicate transactions, and incorrect transactions, we do still need additional information so that we can investigate:

@Quicken Kristina Are we to expect simultaneous resolution of the issues by 8/20 or are the fixes being released sporadically?

Please advise what to expect in regards to the release of fixes.

@leishirsute While there have been no updates from Quicken whatsoever, the Merrill Lynch hard date of 8/12 has come and gone and DC is still active there. I assume that's because the problems are still being worked on and they have enough sense not to force the cutover yet. Since we haven't heard anything re: Fidelity, I'm hoping the same will be true here as well.

Have you applied this update? I tried yesterday and it was a disaster. I'll write up a separate post on it later today. I ended up rolling back to 63.21.

Can someone clear up one question for me? Have there been any negative issues at all using DC for Fidelity accounts when using One Step Update? In an abund of caution I stopped updating my Fidelity accounts last week when I started seeing all of these posts. Is it safe to do so now using the old DC?

  • Yes, the install went just fine. I did have an issue with the OSU being very slow. I figured out that it had something to do with the cloud file. I reinstalled R64.19 with a manual update and I haven't had any issues since.

Ultimately, the final DC → EWC+ migration date is being determined by Fidelity and the data formats they provide to Quicken and other third-party financial software providers. Once Direct Connection will be closed by Fidelity, EWC+ will automatically become the only game in town:

Is there any way to switch accounts back to DC after mistakenly changing them to EWC+? I'd just like to go back to updates the way that it worked until all this is worked out.

@Nnaa This has been discussed earlier: if you updated your data file under EWC+ after migrating, then you would face issues trying to switch back to DC using an earlier backup. If you never downloaded any transactions using EWC+, in theory you should be able to this. The question then becomes, with the hard cutoff data tentatively set for 08/20/2025, is this still worth it for you at this stage?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm having some some issues. I'll start a new thread on this.

There have been updates, if not here in another thread. They said the forced migration has been delayed.

So the fun continues. I'm still on zzz_Fidelity NetBenefits and it's been downloading fine as it is. I don't have many monthly transactions, just a few dividend distros through the month. So most of the time there are no transactions downloaded but the connection is successful. Today I got the OL-301 "Rejected request" error. Since the connection is still DC, this is on Fidelity's side. So be aware another variable has entered the game. I ran OSU several times with the same result to see if it cleared up, it didn't. I even "reset" the account and it never got to the login page. It seems to reconnect and skip the authorization.

I got the same error this morning. Instead of retrying OSU, I went to the NetBenefits account and did "Update Transactions." That seemed to work successfully (I say "seemed" because there were no transactions over the past 24 hours. But the process completed without errors.)

I am VERY curious how the issues identified thus far for Fidelity accounts if or will correct somehow from the initial switch to EWC+. The more days that go by since the transition, all the more discrepancies are being found as others have identified in this thread.

I have several years of transactions in 6 Fidelity accounts that were, to the switch over to EWC+ in early August, perfectly accurate. Now - not so much.

This process obviously wasn't tested by anyone and becoming very clear it should have been. How do we correct what has been corrupted? Closing or deleting current accounts and starting over with new accounts isn't the right answer.

I have continued to use DC for both regular and NetBenefits Fidelity accounts in OSU and all is working properly. (I restored from the previous evening's backup immediately after the original EWC+ conversion.)

Thank You! I went to the Online Center and ran the update from there. It worked as well.. Funny, I ran OSU again afterwards and it failed with the same error. Like you, no transactions downloaded. Not expecting any until end of the month. Then just a smallish dividend distro I can add manually.

    Thanks again!

Today I downloaded from Fidelity and instead of 4 stock transactions and a cash transfer in from my paycheck, there was one contribution of 1/4 of the value that it should be, and no stock transactions. A dividend reinvestment was also missing. This was formerly NetBenefits. The stock account seems to be downloading transactions properly.

@BarryGraham Yes, very similar situation at our end: no EWC+ issues with Fidelity Brokerage & IRA account downloads & transactions (still need to confirm that ReinDiv rounding issue has been resolved), major issues remaining with Fidelity Netbenefits 401(k)/403(b) accounts, which appear to be downloaded as "Simple", while being categorized for "Complete" updates in online account settings.

@HKB actually there are issues with the Brokerage account. It's still not updating the cash balance and corresponding money market funds

So even if I go to a backup, it still won't work? That's aggravating; makes me regret accepting to upgrade the connection. Next time, I will wait until the last minute to do this; better to let everyone else be the testers.

Fair point on reverting back, but it seems like the cutoff date has also been pushed back. That's why I think it would be worth it to go back to DC. I don't have a problem with it taking a long time to get this right, but I do have a problem with my not being able to update my finances while they figure this out. This shouldn't have been rolled out for a general audience until they had more data.

I'm still not seeing any transactions being downloaded into any of the many accounts I have at Fidelity with EWC+. When I go to fidelity, there are many transactions - trades, dividends, etc.

I assume that Quicken knows there are still issues to work on, but wanted to state that here since the above comment sounds like closure!

I never did the upgrade on my Fidelity accounts and have been doing OSU on the zzz Fidelity accounts. Have not had any issues. All transactions have downloaded fine. I do not have cash in my accounts. I use the SPAXX and FDRXX as sweep accounts. Everything works normally. Glad I delayed the change. Sorry for those we didn't.

    @HKB

An issue is that if you revert to DC you have to switch to Simple Tracking after having downloaded using EWC+. I thought that restoring a DC copy did work, as long as you're prepared to lose the data entered since the backup.

I restored a backup from before the botched transition to EWC+ and everything works just as it did in the before-times. The only difference is the connections have the "zzz" prefix. But all Fidelity accounts (and I have a lot of them) have complete tracking. My guess is that you're referring to not restoring from backup but simply trying to switch back. I tried that before restoring from a backup, but I never could figure out how to do it so I did the tried and true "restore from backup" which restored the functioning of Quicken for me (and restored my sanity). The only complexity is that the backup was about a week old and crossed a month end boundary so I had a ton of transactions on my first update and it took a long time for the first update to complete because it was restoring/rebuilding the on-line database for my accounts. But still not that big of a deal. And, again, I'm pissed that I thought this was mandatory because I've learned from lots of experience with Quicken's inadequate testing to delay any transition any I'm forced to make the change. I don't remember any update that was so critical that it was worth risking some file corruption due to some bug not yet fixed.

I've restored from a backup in both my primary and a test file. Both had the DC connections and Complete Tracking intact.

It should be noted that restoring the backup file does not require one to establish a new connection because the DC connection of the backup file was never deactivated. You should have been able to do OSU without doing anything regarding the download connection.

Are you sure you restored a backup file dated from before your primary data file was migrated to EWC+? If you had to set up the download connection in that restored backup file then perhaps you were connected with EWC+, again and simple tracking?

I would suggest redacting actual numbers. And yes there is an issue that for many of us, the cash amount that is included in a money market fund is being counted twice, once in the securities and once in cash. There are two workarounds but each of them have to be repeated as the cash balance changes:

    (1) Adjust the cash balance to zero, or

    (2) Set the price of the money market fund from 1 to 0 from the "Holdings" menu in the register.

I said that restoring from a backup that had DC enabled should work, and that means with complete tracking.

The simple tracking issue occurs if you take a file that's already using EWC+, disable downloading manually change the connection back to DC using the zzz method, without restoring an older version. In that case, it switches you to simple tracking.

Thanks for the clarification on this. I'll wait a couple of days until the 20th and see what changes. If nothing, I'll probably go to a backup that's a month or so old and update from there.
