Black Friday Sales
Saw the sale prices for today's Black Friday at Quicken.com. I ate lunch and when I went and opened the web page to order Quicken Classic Premier at 47% off all the sale prices for Quicken Classic versions as advertised had been changed and no % off at all. The Mobile and Web versions still show a sale price and show the % off.
I guess some got the good deal price before they took it down..,…. not a good look Quicken…

The sale prices on Quicken.com are for new subscribers only, not renewals (gotta read the fine print). I looked just now and they are still there for Classic Deluxe and Premier.
For deals on renewals I would keep an eye on online retailers like Office Depot and New Egg.

It's there for me, but if I try to buy it jumps back up to the full price once I'm logged in (because then it knows I''m not a new customer):

That's not from the Quicken.com web page. Please link where you got the screenshots. The link and screenshots I posted were web page not logged in.

Are you using a cell phone…. I'm at a desktop computer…
I just spent a bit of time and had to scrolled down for a long time to get to the bottom of the web page and you are correct there is a disclaimer typed so small you have to work to read it. Buyers that read this will be better informed because of this discussion so not wasted time or conversation.. Screenshot Quicken.com disclaimer…

I think the quicken.com website stores cookies in your web browser, which may affect the display of discount offers to be different upon return visits. But it's really a moot issue for existing users, because all the discounts on the Quicken website apply only to new users; they don't discount renewals. There may be some discounts for renewals from retailers such as Newegg or Best Buy as we get closer to Black Friday — or this might be the year that Quicken finally closes off that channel and drives all renewals through their website at full price. (I actually expected such a change in the years following the 2017 switch to subscription pricing, so I'm surprised discount renewals have persisted this long.)

Yep… and talking about cookies…. After the updated web pages showing Black Friday today I noticed the "suggested links" we see in the browsers that can be used or deleted are still there that I keep. I delete all others so the suggested links list isn't too long. Well today after the web update a new suggestion arrived "Quicken for windows 11". I deleted it about 30 times already and is won't go away. The suggested link opens up search results to choose from and specifically almost all choices are Quicken and many pages of them. I have not typed a searched with the words "Quicken for Windows 11" and want this suggested link to stay deleted but how….. Any Quicken guru have any idea how to delete a suggested link that won't stay deleted…
Thx for the discussion and banter…

What web browser?
I don't see this in Microsoft Edge.
I find it interesting that the "sales" change so fast on Quicken.com. I'm good until December 12, 2026, so it doesn't really affect me for now though. I did take advantage of one of them on not the last renewal, but the one before that. Being a "new subscriber" is hard when all you depend on is downloading transactions. New email addresses are free.

Just 1 more comment then I'll shut up…..
It appears to me that this "Black Friday" gives discounts just for new customers. Customers who have been loyal for years, some for 20 or 30 years get what? No Black Friday discount apparently. Quicken should think about this.
Mouth shut…. bye

Walmart seems Quicken at a discount without the new user subscription limitation.
All the other retailers I looked at like Amazon are new subscriber, but also at a bit of a discount to what is currently on quicken.com.
BTW given the choice to buy a from Quicken.com or a retailer, a retailer is preferred because you can decide when to activate it up to a year later. With a new subscriber you would want to do that close to when your old subscription ends, but with one that isn't "new subscriber" you can renew 6 months before the end of your old subscription.

@retird I don't think most subscription businesses give discounts to existing customers. Think cable, Internet provider, streaming services, print or online news services, etc. If they gave discounts to renewing customers and to new customers, then they essentially just have a bogus "list" price and a lower true price that everyone gets.
In Quicken's case, the new customer discount is simply a teaser rate to get people to try the product. They hope that most people will find it useful enough that after a year, they will remain a customer.
If they gave a discount to existing subscribers, who would pay the full rate? No one. So they'd raise the price, and then give new customers and existing customers a discount, which would bring the price back down to the current full price — and no one would come out ahead. 😉

I see that too, at that URL, but has anyone tried it? It's a significant discount! Unclear how Walmart might allow a return for something like this - can companies revoke keys, and would a seller successfully inform the company to do so?

My real live experiences with many of the provider services you mentioned who I have been with 20 or more years certainly contradict your assumptions but this is not the place to go into detail about it.

If you are a member of Sam's, they have it cheaper than Walmart.

I call them annually, and negotiate a reasonable discount.

I can't believe this discussion is still going 😒. So much effort to save $20 - just skip one dine out and call it a win.

I have no problem with the moderators closing this discussion as they have already said what the were going to do. I trust them.
This discussion is not about 20 bucks. Have you ever seen Walmart, Costco, Sams Club, and etc. etc. have a Black Friday Sale just for New Customers?
MY LAST COMMENT… Happy Holiday season to all Quickenites….

The Walmart deal is currently $56.99 for Premier. It doesn't say new subscribers.

Would it be worth switching to Premier when tracking gig work for tax purposes (grubhub, dine-n-dash etc…)?

Walmart has two URLs, one for the new subscribers and one for existing users. The price is the same. The link I gave is for the existing users:
Just going to Walmart.com and searching for Quicken shows this and for people that want a different edition you can start there:

About the only thing I think would be different between the Premier and Deluxe for this a few extra tax reports. And even that is "optional". If you have Deluxe you can compare what you have to this.
But note that using the Tax Schedule and Tax Summary you can get the same information that is on the individual reports.
Also, for recording business categories. Make sure you create a category with a schedule C tax line associated with it. That will get it into the tax tools in Quicken as a business expense or income.
