AstraZeneca PLC ADR (AZN) Pricing Question

Quicken Classic Premier Version 8.5.2 (Build 805.60133.100)

macOS 15.7.4

I'm not sure when this problem started - I fell behind on reconciling my investment accounts and just started working on November 2025 when I ran into price differences between my brokerage (RBC Wealth Management) and Quicken.

I noticed that the pricing history in Quicken for AZN doesn't make sense. For example, closing prices on Fridays appear to be about double the trading prices during the rest of the week. This history also doesn't appear to match the recent security overview from Quickens website. See screen grabs. Does anyone know the cause of this behavior and how to deal with it in Quicken; or how to troubleshoot this?

AstraZeneca withdrew its NASDAQ listing of its ADR shares (trading under AZN) and did some sort of trade to its NYSE shares (also trading under AZN). I think that Quicken co-mingled and backfilled some of the missing price history for AZN.

Press release with the details.

How do I properly handle this in Quicken Classic Premier (Mac), reconstruct the price history, and deal with these corporate changes?

    Hello @Paul_,

Thank you for reaching out! I tested in my Quicken file and see the same thing (although it's less obvious because my price history shows only Fridays).

Because this isn't limited to your file alone, I suspect the issue is caused by the data Quicken is receiving.

This issue has been forwarded to the proper channels for further investigation and resolution.

When you ask how to deal with the corporate changes, are you referring to the incorrect price history, or are you asking how to document the changes in your Quicken account(s)?

I look forward to your response!

    Hi @Quicken Kristina,

By "Corporate changes" I meant what transactions need to be in my investment register to properly reflect the actions that AstraZeneca took in their press release. Currently, my IRA contains the following (recent) transactions for AZN. There are two different security names with the same ticker symbol. Besides getting the security pricing correct, I want to be sure that the cost basis is correct.

I see two securities in my Quicken file (screenshot):

    Screenshot 2026-04-13 at 10.40.44 PM.png

Each has its own price history (see screenshots) but there is some overlap. Main difference is that the newer security has zero for opening prices prior to 1/30/2026.

Also, when I look at the price history from within the portfolio view (the screenshots in my original message), the prices and security name I see depend upon the "data as of date" I select. Before the global reorg I see the security "ASTRAZENECA PLC AZN"; after the reorg I see the security "ASTRAZENECA PLC AZN (AZN)".

    Thank you for your reply,

That press release indicates they delisted from the NASDAQ on a two-for-one basis and then listed on the NYSE. Quicken for Mac doesn't have a special transaction type to represent that kind of change, but the screenshots you provided indicate that it downloaded as a Remove Shares and an Add Shares transaction pair.

    Screenshot 2026-04-14 at 12.57.25 PM.png

That would have updated the number of shares you own without affecting the account's cash balance.

If it was just the security name and the number of shares that changed, but you didn't gain or lose any value in the change, then I'd expect the cost basis to remain the same.

Aside from the price history issue, is the information for that holding correct in your Quicken file?

Based on the Add Shares transaction, it looks like the newer security would be the one that's listed on NYSE. It makes sense that it would show zeros for the opening prices prior to 1/30/26, since the press release you linked indicates it didn't exist before then. The other values look like they came from the security used prior to their delisting from the NASDAQ.

    I hope this helps!
