@Quicken Laura … Can we get a status update on the Fidelity cash vs money market issue? Some possible answers are …

    • We have no clue how to fix it.
    • We have identified the issue and are working on a plan to fix it.
    • The fix is being worked on.
    • The fix is complete and being tested.

I have been without Quicken for about 2 months and beginning to wonder if I really need it.

    Hi @jblevy01,

Thanks for following up. I just checked the ticket (CTP-16655), and there are no updates at this time.

Our support team is actively working on this issue, and it involves multiple parties, including Quicken, the aggregation service provider, and the financial institution, which can add complexity and may impact resolution time.

    I hope this helps!

If I discontinue my Quicken subscription, my understanding is that I lose online updates but can still enter transactions manually and do reporting. Is this accurate?

    Hi @jblevy01,

You are correct, you would only lose access to online services and new updates if your subscription ends.

Per Quicken’s Data Access Guarantee, you will always retain full access to your data. This means you can continue to view, edit, export, and manually enter transactions and accounts even after your subscription expires, as your data is stored locally on your computer.

However, access to online services, such as transaction downloads, quotes, mobile sync, and Quicken Support, will no longer be available once the subscription ends. The Data Access Guarantee applies to Deluxe and higher versions of Quicken Classic.

Additionally, I wanted to let you know that the fix for the cash balance issue is still pending implementation. At this time, we do not have an estimated timeframe for when it will be available.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

@jblevy01 If you discontinue your subscription, also be aware that Quicken steals roughly 20% of the right side of your screen for a persistent "ad" encouraging you to re-subscribe. Some people (especially with a large-screen) find this workable; others find it intolerable.

Also be aware that you can't download a QFX file from the financial institution and manually upload it into Quicken. That process is also considered part of Quicken's online services (because it validates the financial institution and runs transactions through the auto-categorization and auto-renaming servers), so you cannot import a QFX file without a subscription. And your security prices won't automatically download prices; you'll have to do that manually as well.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go all manual; I just wanted to make sure you understood the consequences so you could make an informed decision what will work best for you.

@jacobs tnanks…I understand that. At this point I have been without Quicken for nearly 3 months between the connectivity issues and the mutual fund issues. I use Quicken to provide a consolidated view across institutions, to track net worth, and to produce category reports for tax purposes. I am finding that Fidelity Full View is providing me with those. It’s not as slick or comprehensive as Quicken but in the past year or so Quicken has not been as reliable as it used to be to be. They have been implementing lots of new features but it seems at the expense of thorough testing.

I suspect that most of the problems you've been experiencing with Quicken are connectivity issues with financial institutions, rather than untested bugs in the program itself. Unfortunately, Quicken is at the mercy for giant financial institutions to fix many of the connectivity problems, and those parties often don't consider developing, testing, and release software fixes for a third-party service like Quicken to be a high priority.

Regardless of where the fault lies, of course, you need to evaluate whether you're getting enough value from Quicken to be worth the annual price.

@jacobs The cost of Quicken is not an issue. I first started using Quicken in 1993. At that time I imported transactions and also printed checks to pay bills. The world of bill payment has changed since then and I haven't printed checks for many years. Without the ability to download and categorize transactions, I could just as easily use a spreadsheet. The current problem is how Quicken is processing activity for cash positions and money market funds from Fidelity. The connectivity issue seems to have been resolved but money market and cash positions are deleted or not recorded accurately since the connection type update was implemented. Prior to the connectivity issue, it was all working fine. As a software engineer, I have worked on systems that took external feeds from financial institutions and it was my responsibility to understand the mapping of transactions from their world to mine. That is where I feel that Quicken has dropped the ball. New features are nice but not at the expense of the existing features. At the moment, I cannot use Quicken at all as it corrupts my existing data so even if it were free, it isn't worth the price. At the moment I am restored to a backup from 3/1/26. I am interested in seeing how it recovers the backlog of updates once they roll out the final fix.
