The ability to create custom reports and graphs that could be included on the dashboard would be great. For example the ability to create a report and graph for a specific category.

i agree. i just got off chat support and they said the only way to make them custom is you have to delete your accounts from the entire software since the reports are based on every account. I use quicken for MAC and it would be great that if you could just allow the dashboard cards default report to me customized and saved. that would be a step forward.

I actually read the original request a bit differently. Both are valid, just different.

And the original one sounds more powerful.

I believe that the "New Dashboard" in Quicken Windows pretty much lines up with the one in Quicken Mac (Not that Quicken Windows has a "Classic" one that is much more complete, but just done in older "widgets"). And one of the first requests that was made when that came out was some of this kind of customizing. For the ones where it applies, in Quicken Windows you can select which accounts to use.

So, I think Quicken Windows is slightly ahead in this, but on the other hand there are "cards" that one might want to filter by categories for instance, or payees, ... So, one request that should be there is to fill out the ability to do this kind of filtering.

But back to the original request "display custom reports/graphs" I take to mean that you would have say a "view port" card that just displays any customized report/graph that the user has already created. This would mean that the developers wouldn't have to guess at what kind of "cards" are needed and what kind of customizing. The work can be done once for the regular customized reports and graphs and then those can be "viewed on" the Dashboard.

in Classic, I'm trying to create a graph for one specific bank account, showing month end bank balances.

    is this possible?

@TomU No, there is no functionality for creating custom graphs in Quicken Mac at this time. The developers have said they plan to add this in the future. You can create custom reports to show what you want, but not graphs.

@TomU Searching for something else led me back to this comment from two years ago, where you asked to be able to create a graph for a single bank account showing month-by-month balances. You may be aware of this but the version 8.3 release (August 2025) added the Balance tab at the top of the register; selecting this tab adds a graph on top of the register list tracking balances over whatever time interval you select. By moving your cursor left and right in the graph, you can see the balance amount as of any date (e.g. the last date of a month, or the last balance change prior to the end of that month).

@rdt1 I just re-read this Idea request you created two and a half years ago, and I'm writing to ask if you can clarify what you were/are asking for. You wrote:

The ability to create custom reports and graphs that could be included on the dashboard would be great.

The Dashboard contains only charts, not graphs, although every chart can be clicked to generate a detail report. In the releases over the past year, the developers have added a lot of new capabilities which may or may not address what you were looking for. In the Dashboard, you can now make multiple copies of any card in order to have different time ranges or configurations of the same card. So, for instance, you could have a Spending by Category card set to a date range like Last 12 Month or Year to Date, and set to show spending from any specific account(s) and/or categories you want.

For example the ability to create a report and graph for a specific category.

You can create a report for a specific category to show all the transactions, or summary amounts over whatever time interval you want. For instance, if you wanted to see how much your cost of gas has been increasing, you could create a Category Summary by Month, select just your Auto Gas category, and set a date range over the past two years.

In the Dashboard, you could duplicate the Spending by Category card and customize the duplicate for just one category; that would produce a pretty useless pie chart with just the one category filling the entire circle, but clicking on it would generate a report of all the transactions in that category.

So that all said, I'm wondering if the features added since your post basically address what you were looking for? And if not, could you be more specific about what you would want to be able to see on the Dashboard that you currently cannot. This might help attract more votes, and be clearer to the developers if this request gets enough votes.
