Tax Planner settings changing to Estimate or No Projected Amount - Again

Referring to this discussion, now closed, the problem happened to me again today after recording a stock sale with a capital gain. [See update below]

Eight of my tax planner settings changed from Scheduled Bills and Deposits to Estimate based on YTD Daily Average or No Projected Amount.

I am running R67.7 and my data file is on my C drive. I had been running R67.7 for several days before the settings changed, so the problem was not caused by the software update.

I sure wish Quicken would fix this longstanding issue.

    Hello @Jim_Harman,

Thank you for letting us know this issue happened again. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information:

    • Is this an intermittent issue?
      • If it's not intermittent, what seems to trigger this behavior?
    • Do you sync your file with the Quicken Cloud?
    • Did the settings change after a bill/income reminder was edited, added, or removed?

I look forward to your reply!

Thanks for following up @Quicken Kristina

This only happens occasionally. I just looked over my notes of what I did shortly before this happened and did some experimenting.

If I do a File > Copy or backup file > Create a copy or template with the default settings except the Attachments box unchecked, the exact same problem happens again. The Tax Planner settings were changed in the original file but not in the copy.

The following Tax Planner settings were changed in the original file. The original settings were all "Scheduled Bills and Deposits."

    Setting

    Changed to

    Interest/Dividend Income > Dividends

Estimate based on YTD average (YTD)

Other Income > Taxable IRA/Pension distributions

    No Projected Amount (NPA)

    Taxable Social Security Benefits

    YTD

    Deductions > Real Estate taxes

    NPA

    State/Local Tax > Estimated Payments

    Use Per Pay Period Amount

    Deductions > Charitable contributions

    NPA

    Withholding > Other Withholding

    YTD

    Tax Payments > Estimated Taxes

    NPA

It does not appear that any other settings were changed.

I do not sync with the Quicken cloud, i.e. Edit > Preferences > Mobile & Web > Sync is turned off.

The setting change was not related to Bill/Income Reminder changes.

I hope this helps to resolve this longstanding problem.

    Update:

I created a test file with one investing account, one security, one dividend income reminder and set the Tax planner Dividend income to "Scheduled bills and Deposits". I went to File > Copy or Backup file and made a copy of the file. In the Tax Planner in the original file, the setting for Dividends was changed to "Estimate based on YTD daily average."

    Report sent.

Thank you for the additional information,

I was able to replicate the issue when making a copy of the file. I forwarded the issue to the proper channels for further investigation and resolution. Thank you for already sending a problem report with log files attached and a sanitized file.

    Thank you!

Further update, in case it helps to find the problem:

I seldom use Copy or backup file to make a copy of my working Quicken file, and until recently I did not check the Tax Planner regularly to see if the settings had changed.

However I see that on 7/30/24 I made a copy of the file and I reported this problem on 8/3/24. That would indicate that this problem has existed at least since then.
