I have Canadian Home and Business 2016 – I need
to upgrade

I can’t find answers to these questions

Does version “Starter 2019” download stock
quotes

Can I open and use a Canadian Home and
Business 2016 data file using “Starter 1019”

Thank you in advance

You really want to reconsider using Starter.  It doesn't support investment accounts, and if your subscription EVER expires, your entire data file goes "read only" ... no input of any type.

Go to Deluxe, at the very least..

And, at least in the US version and I'm pretty sure in the CDN version, the 2016 file layouts are identical to the 2019 layouts ... so your data should come over quite cleanly.  However, the H&B accounts will be converted to regular Q accounts and you'll lose all of the H&B functions.

I never used the "Home+Business" features, I have bank accounts and investment accounts I think I will be ok
I forget why I bought it 6 years ago - but back then the price seemed ok so why not .
In 2016 I bought it for 87.99 / 3 years, they just offered me an upgrade for 1 year subscription
    Yep you guessed it 89.99 / 1 Year - i make that a 300% increase - staggering !!!
If anybody has further opinions / Confirmation I would appreciate it

    Thanks

If you have investment accounts, you will be limited with Starter.

According to https://www.quicken.com/canada/compare you can now "get away" with the Canadian Deluxe version to support your investment accounts.
In prior years and, IIRC, you needed H&B to support investment accounts.

That said, IIRC there is a user that recently posted that went from H&B to Starter (CDN) and still has access to investments, since they were created before switching. BUT he is running into error messages when trying to perform schedule a transfer to the investment account, though he can enter transactions manually.

Not sure if I can track down that thread.... YMMV.

    Here it is:

Had it backwards...OP can create a manual transfer to the asset (investment) account but cannot manually enter a transaction in the investment account.

Bottom line: if you are tracking any investments, get Deluxe, not Starter.
