Quicken often offers special deals on their website, but they are only first-year teaser deals for new subscribers.

Unlike AT&T, Quicken doesn't offer the same price to both "new" and "existing" users, if you want a discount as an existing user, look at their retail partners.

Even that seems to be drying up. The best I could find is 2 dollars off at Costco, and the others I checked had no discount.

$51.99 with a 10%($5.20) discount = $46.79 at Amazon. And Amazon currently has only CD-ROM versions, none for download. What percentage of computer users these days have a CD-ROM drive in their computer? (Staples has a download version; Best Buy does not -- but neither have any discounts currently.)

The easiest way to increase revenue without raising the consumer price is to eliminate lower prices for retailers which allowed them to discount.

@jacobs Oh thanks I missed the coupon offer.  As for the CD other than the fact that you have to wait for it to show up there isn't a problem.  All the user needs is the activation code off of the box.  For a renewal you just enter the activation code on the Help menu.  If you need to install you can do it from here:
    https://www.quicken.com/support/how-do-i-download-quicken-quickencom-after-i-buy-it

Or by logging into your account on Quicken.com and download it from there.

To do that, 1) you can either let your current subscription lapse by more than 30 days and reuse the same Quicken Id or 2) create a new Quicken Id (requires a different email) every year.  I guess it would only require two emails to rotate between since a year later the original email's account would be expired long enough to qualify as a new user.
If you do #1, Starter goes into READ-ONLY mode for that month of waiting, the other editions would be manual.

Good to know. I am able to create unlimited emails addresses that will come to my real address.
However, if I started as a new user, will I be able to open and use my former Quicken datafile and download account transactions?

Yes, you will just need to change the QID in Edit->Preferences->Quicken Id
I don't use Express Web Connect connections, so you might get duplicate transactions the first download since it will have to start a new Cloud Account for the EWC transactions to pass thru and the FITID codes might be different which prevents duplicates.
