How to identify Qkn backup file when updating?

Is there a specific identifier for the Qdata backup file that Quicken does before it does an update. (Can I look at my Qdata backup files and choose which one is the backup Quicken automatically created before an update?)

When we update Quicken, Quicken saves a backup in the automatic backup folder with the current release and date before applying the update.  For example: QData-R-36.23-2021-10-31.QDF-backup

Does this still apply when Quicken does the auto backup before it installs a program update?

Yes. That is when this applies.

I just did a Quicken update and it did not backup the current file - instead it used a version that was over a week old when it came back up. What the actual [Removed - Language]? And do I have to reinitiate the payments that I made through Bill Pay (which no longer show up now)??

Ok, so I searched for *.qdf files and managed to find the correct backup - but I don't understand why it wasn't the one Quicken opened after updating itself…. sigh….

    Hello @rappfamily,

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community, however, since this is an older post that was originally created back in November of 2021, it is less likely to receive an answer now.

I would suggest creating a new post for better visibility and to potentially receive responses from other users who may currently be experiencing the same problem. Doing so will also assist us with better tracking ability in the event that this issue may result in an escalation being required.

Please be sure to include a description of the issue, any error messages as well as the version of Quicken you have currently running (Help > About Quicken). The more information you are able to provide will help the Community to better understand and assist.

    Thank you!
