If they don't provide a Direct Connect interface then Quicken needs to web scrape their site to get the info.

So sure there is a delay if they didn't provide a proper notice, but it's 100% on Quicken to update on their end.

BUT the DCU changes should NOT get to "jump the line" as everyone here seems to be demanding.
And it's STILL DCU's fault for not providing "TIMELY NOTICE"

It's been going on 20+ days for most, and since early February for some users because they did migrations in batches.

I actually work in a business that does web scraping. Things break. Data parsing has unexpected issues with edge case. Fixing them is always jump the line top priority.

So sure there is blame on both sides but it shouldn't be dragging on so long. It's one thing to say on day 3 sorry this is going to be a little longer, but on day 20 nobody has any clue or ETA. Quicken as always very opaque.

For a complete re-write of the screen-scrape scripts, from when they bubbled up to next in the queue, 20 days is pretty short.
I retired after 40+ years in the computer side of banking/finance and except for legal matters almost NOTHING got implemented that quickly ... especially major changes such as this one apparently was.
BTW, @bob139, do you work for DCU?  Because you certainly seem to be an apologist for them.

No I don't work for DCU I actually just switched my direct deposits away from them. Do you work for Quicken? Because you certainly seem to be an apologist for them. I think Quicken should be working a little harder and giving us a little better updates. If DCU is totally to blame then they should tell us that.

I've interviewed programmers who can scrape a website and extract structured data in 30 minutes. Not too far different from a bank website pulling transaction dates, descriptions, and amounts.

Of course there is more testing an implantation to go on but it's not a major change for Quicken. This is plugging into their existing framework that have going that pulls data from hundreds of other financial institutions.

This morning for the first time my transactions downloaded and I was able to catchup all 7 accounts, after - as others have noted - fixing the bogus initial deposit transactions.

Maybe they have fixed it.  Or maybe it's because I posted a problem report, as requested in the referenced post by @Quicken Anja.  Someone earlier suggested they were fixing it one-by-one according to who opened problem tickets.

In any case, all is good for the moment.  The outstanding question is whether or not I will continue to need to re-authenticate my account every day.  Today (again) I had to do it.

Anyone else finding this better ?

Huzzah! I was also able to download all my transactions today. The 2FA is annoying. So yay! and harrumph!

I tried downloading again today and my DCU transactions downloaded! Hopefully this means it's fixed for everyone or soon will be!

for those that the download is now working, did you use the original connection (now called "Digital Federal Credit Union Old") or the newer connection?
  • knuthvol4

I did not use the one marked "old". That seemed like a recipe for failure...

The one without "old" appears to be new. My accounts are still linked with the "old" institution as attempting to switch might do more harm than good.

I was able to download transactions today, too. I've been using the one marked "old". My accounts wouldn't reconcile because Quicken changed the opening balances, which were from 1994. I also have go through 2FA twice for every download.

I didn't change anything in connection. only updated the member # to username. So it shows "Old" as the connection. I just tried to update again, this time it didn't prompt me to get a email or text code, but it said it updated ok. No new transactions since this morning. I finally had time to sit down and go through the list of transactions it downloaded this morning. Looks like some of them are wrong/bogus/duplicate. So there's progress in the right direction but it looks like there's still more work to be done on Quicke/DCU's part.

    I'm with @thenew3
HOW have people been able to download transactions? What did you change? I also updated member # to username, but it's still not downloading anything. Help!!

@COGuy14 What do you mean it doesn't work? Is there some error message? Or it appears to update but no new transactions?

I would try to reset the connection in Quicken.

I have a secure email into them about one of my 4 DCU accounts not being presented in the connection link window so I can match it to the existing Quicken register. So I now have three of four accounts downloading successfully using the DFCU bank, not the DFCU-old bank. Really strange that all four opening balance amounts from 10 or 15 years ago arbitrarily changed during the reconnection process. I noticed the issue because none of the previous ending balances from my Jan reconcillations were correct as starting balances when compared with the Feb statement. I used a calculator to make the needed change in the account opening balances and all is good now (except for the missing account). This is really lame that we should be having to waste so much time compensating for rookie performance by two companies we thought we could rely upon.

What type of account is it? I know in the past I would not sync my car loan because Quicken was forcing me to set it up as a credit card. With the new changes it shows up correctly as a loan. Since Quicken has this limitation and does not allow you to choose the account type you may be running into a similar issue.

Out of an abundance of caution, I chose the following steps to be sure I didn't lose any info because I have many accounts at DCU and the thought of losing any of that info or trying to reconcile duplicate/missing transactions with over 10 accounts was too horrible:

    1) Disconnected my DCU accounts from downloading in Quicken
    2) Renamed my DCU accounts in Quicken to add "OLD" as a preface
    3) Used the "Add new account" feature in Quicken and re-established all my DCU accounts with the new username login protocol and included the word "new" when establishing the Quicken account names
    4) Picked a clean cut off date (March 1 in my case) and deleted all the transactions that downloaded into my "new" DCU Quicken accounts with a transaction date prior to March 1st. This keeps all my records through Feb 28 in my "old" untouched and reconciled accounts which I know to be accurate. Everything from March 1 forward will be in my "new" DCU Quicken accounts.
    5) Used the "hide" feature for all my "old" DCU accounts. This preserves the info for searching, reporting, etc but keeps my sidebar view from being cluttered.

It's kind of a wonky work around, but I know for sure I haven't lost any of my old data and never will regardless of what DCU does because my old data has been disconnected from downloading.

Which financial institution did you choose?

Quicken Classic Premier R55.26 on Windows10 now. I started with MYM (Managing Your Money) on DOS

  • Finally got DCU to sync but there's a huge problem !!!!!
It changed my opening balance dating back to 1/1/2006.

Now the discrepancy between the online balance and balance in Quicken account is exactly twice the actual original balance (thank god for all the backups).

This may be though more on Quicken than on DCU. Now, I have to call equally lousy Quicken support if I want to download the transactions again. Quicken's response usually is, start a new file. What do I do with my years of data?

I've been back up and running for 4 days. I disconnected all my existing connections and reconnected using the newer "DCU" (not the one marked as "old"), and only did one account at a time, 1 each day. No issues except an incorrect beginning balance on one of my four accounts, it was off by $100

As noted in many posts here, all you have to do is adjust (or in some cases delete) the bogus opening balance that Quicken puts there.

  • ok. I corrected the opening balance with the one I had in my backup and everything matched. I think I can keep DCU for a little longer.. Thanks

I had the same sort of opening balance change happen. Just have to change it to correct number that makes Quicken ending balance, less uncleared transactions, match DCU balance. All working for me now except one Money Market account which DCU doesn't present to linking window.

Hi. Your loan account status thing is interesting... My three accounts that are linked and working again are checking, Primary Savings, and Advantage Savings. The account that is not presented to the linking window is Money Market. I have sent this problem very specifically to the DCU secure email people three times over the past week and they replied for the first time yesterday with a lot of canned reply garbage which has nothing to do with my problem!

I'm pasting his reply here so you can see how clueless customer support seems to be about what's going on with our Quicken financial management software....

Thank you for your contact with regard to Digital Banking. My name is Miguel, and I am happy to assist you today.
I hope you are having a great day and sorry for the delayed response. I want to apologize for any inconvenience during the conversion process. Can you confirm what web browser you are using when you try to login and get the verification error? A research request can be submitted with our Digital Banking department.
In regard to Quicken, we are actively working on resolving connection errors. Quicken support systems need to be updated with DCU's new login credentials. We do not have an ETA on when this will be resolved.
If you still need help, call DCU's Information Center at 1-800-328-8797. We are available Monday-Friday from 8am-9pm Eastern Time, 9am-3pm on Saturdays. Calling behind your member number and 4-digit PIN will make your call verified. Live Chat is available weekdays from 8am-5pm on the site.
For security purposes, if you have any other questions or need additional assistance, you can also log in to Digital Banking to submit a new secure message, and we will be very happy to assist you further.

This bank is so out of control on their customer service side. Can't believe they pulled the trigger on this banking system transition without more testing. So last quarter I spent trying to get Schwab to reconnect. This quarter I've burned hours trying to get DCU to connect. What's wrong with companies??? How about a little testing before launching a product? But, I feel ashamed of complaining about my banking probs when a company like Boeing pulls this same lack of testing practice with the 737MAX. RIP.

I could live with having to adjust opening balances. I keep trying to add then as new accounts, I've disconnected my old accounts, and I keep getting a 519 error... maybe they are rolling support out slowly? Any input is appreciated.
