Is use of .qfx file protected?

I'm writing my own software to analyze downloaded bank account files. Can I download and use .qfx files for this purpose, or is use of .qfx files restricted to only Quicken product users? (I could use the .csv files instead.)

There isn't anything that would stop you from using QFX files in your own program.  And just for the record QFX files are OFX files with a few more fields in them.

Its just a simple text markup language - you can download and easily view in Notepad

Just make sure the banks you intend to pull data from actually provide QFX files; some do and some don't.

QFX files simply use a text file format, so can be opened by any text editor or word processor.
