Quickbooks (NOT QUICKEN) is phasing out their desktop software products in favor of Online only
I had seen this - and guess it is a sign of the times…. again -NOT QUICKEN -
After May 31, 2024, your QuickBooks Desktop 2021 software will be discontinued. This includes all 2021 versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, QuickBooks Desktop Premier, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions v21. Other Intuit products are affected by the software discontinuation.
Your access to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, Desktop Payments, live technical support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services through QuickBooks Desktop 2021 software will be discontinued after May 31, 2024. This also means you won't receive critical security updates protecting your data starting June 1, 2024.

Sounds like they are just discontinuing Desktop 2021. They will still have the newer desktop versions, like when Quicken used to stop supporting 3 years old programs. Same with Turbo Tax.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

It is interesting of what it doesn't target. It doesn't target foreign versions or the enterprise versions.

It also doesn't actually discontinue the desktop products at all; they're continuing to support and update them. They just aren't going to sell to new subscribers.
From Intuit:
This change doesn't impact existing subscribers. Existing QuickBooks Desktop Plus and Desktop Payroll subscribers can continue to renew their subscriptions after July 31, 2024*. We will continue to provide security updates, product updates, and support for existing subscribers. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise products are also not impacted by this change and customers can continue to purchase Enterprise subscriptions after July 31, 2024.
This discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop applies to the U.S. only.
QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Desktop Enhanced Payroll won't be discontinued at this time. This is a stop sell only for new purchases, not a complete discontinuation (sunset) of this QuickBooks Desktop product line. Existing subscribers of these products can continue to renew their subscriptions after July 31, 2024*. The stop sell only impacts new subscription purchases. We will continue to provide security updates, product updates, and support for existing subscribers.
It seems a little odd to continue to do the work for security updates and to provide support for existing customers while forcing new customers to their online-only products, Maybe they're just trying to provide a long runway to eventually transition everyone to the online products?
