Are you asking about
- American Express for your credit cards,
- American Express FSB
or - American Express - Banking for savings and other types of accounts?

I just got CC-506 on AMEX banking (savings). CC seems to work fine.

Ditto the above. Website is fine. Quicken connection isn't. Always asks to send me an email or text message (thought they would only ask once - when Amex updated their site) and then CC-506. We usually get a message that Quicken is aware of the problem and is working on it. Is Support on their 4th of July break?

Still unable to connect to AmEx bank, no longer showing error CC-506. I manually updated my account. Too many issues with Quicken, as a user for 20 years, I will no longer renew the service.

I still get the verification AND CC-506 aas of this morning.

FWIW, Amex says it will not support Quicken connection for their bank accounts because of "security issues". I closed my Amex Savings. Of course, it's possible that Quicken may get them to change their minds.

@src1954 Please provide a link to where AMEX says that. And specifies High Yield Savings if possible. I'd like to see this.

To reinforce some statements above, this appears to be a decision made by American Express Bank. They are blocking Quicken connections. This is the response / statement provided to me by quicken support today:
Tue 7/2/2024 10:56 AM"At this time, American Express Savings does not allow sites like Quicken or Mint to log in on behalf of our customers. This protocol is in place to protect Savings customers’ personal information. Savings does allow you to download transactions so that you can import them into sites like Quicken or Mint…"
@Bob. here is the link to the official statement on Amex site:1 -
I exclusively use credit card accounts, and I am experiencing this problem. In the past, I have had numerous calls with both Quicken and Amex regarding similar issues, with each company blaming the other. My experiences with Amex have always been professional and of high standards, but unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Quicken.

FIXED: I just called and tech support had an alert on file. They reset the connection to the server and I'm good to go!

Please explain fixed??
I just tried before I came here. Had to verify AMEX Savings, but no more CC-506.
Did you have to verify savings and is that now fixed for you folks?

I'm still getting the CC-506 error.

MY cc-506 error is back this morning. Along with verify.
Thanks for the post, @Quicken Anja . Does that "known issue" include the need to verify at least once a day if niot more or ONLY the CC-506 error?
@Fazz are you still good after your reset?
Thanks all.

Same issue as Fazz noted on July 1. Issue continues. I've been connecting to American Express card (not savings) for years using Direct Connect or Express Web Connect + in Quicken… same as with my other credit cards. Connection hasn't been successful since on or around June 25. Same "We're Sorry" message from americanexpress.com/account/oauth/error appears when trying to connect from Quicken. Same error if I try to add a new Amex card to Quicken. However, I can sign-in directly to my account at americanexpress.com with no issues, so the issue appears to be how Quicken is calling the login service at Amex.

The latest from American Express HELP….
Does the American Express Savings site integrate Quicken? At this time, American Express Savings does not allow sites like Quicken to log in on behalf of our customers. This protocol is in place to protect Savings customers’ personal information. Savings does allow you to download transactions so that you can import them into sites like Quicken by following these easy steps:
- Log in to your American Express Savings account
- Select the "Documents" tab at the top of the page
- Click the "Download Transactions" link towards the top right of the page
- Select the account that you want to download
- Select the “Start Date”, “End Date” and “File Type” you wish to download
- Select 'Download'
0 - Log in to your American Express Savings account

Same issue has been persistent for several weeks since Quicken started popping the notice that Amex connection needed to be updated. All the credentials I enter are correct as it sends me the 2FA code and then bombs out after that code is entered with the CC-506 error. Be nice to just remove the notice till this issue is resolved.

Hello All,
We have received confirmation from American Express that the MFA prompt for each online account update is working as designed as this is the intended process they have put in place.
Please note that the error CC-506 is a separate known issue.
Thank you!

Thanks for that Anja. I have already started to move my savings elsewhere. They obviously do not value Quicken users.

Update to my post from July 9…
This morning, July 20, I was just able to reconnect my American Express card (not savings account) to Quicken via Express Web Connect +. One Step update worked as expected and transactions were downloaded to Quicken. This Quicken/Amex connection had not worked correctly since ~ June 25. In the interim, I used the manual download option available by logging directly into americanexpress.com.
I changed nothing on my end before this started working again. Simply used the standard process for adding online services to an account in Quicken which had not worked for Amex cards in 3+ weeks…. now appears to be working.
