Downloaded Security Prices are incorrect, but corrected a few days later
Windows 10. Fully updated.
At the end of the month (July 31), I always download all closing portfolio stock, mutual fund and etf prices, usually after 7pm pacific time. Now because of the problem I describe below, I always check those downloaded prices in an excel sheet with the excel stock data type with the StockHistory function. I can instantly see discrepancies. This July 31st there were many. So I downloaded again on the evening of August 1st and there were still multiple discrepancies on the July 31 price.
Then today at 11 am I downloaded again this time all quicken prices on July 31 were consistent with the excel StockHistory function. I should add that I also checked the excel function price on July 31 and Aug 1 against my mutual fund and brokerage accounts as well as Yahoo finance. In all cases excel was consistent with them. Further when checked on different days, the prices were always the same, as they should be.
So why is quicken taking up to two days to get prices right? There is little transparency as to the source of those prices. When trying to reconcile quicken with my fund and brokerage accounts these discrepancies cause endless hours of figuring out the problem.
Can anyone shed light on this issue?

Hello @donotemailhere989,
To assist with this issue, please provide more information. When did you first notice this issue? Your description of the issue mentions 31 July, but implies it's been going on for longer than that. Is this affecting only some securities, or all of them? If it's affecting only some, which specific ones are you seeing this issue with?
I look forward to your response!

It has been going on for a while but mainly on one or two isolated foreign efts, e.g. VWOB. It was never a problem and I just corrected them and moved on.
On July 31 2024, it was not all stocks — about 20% of my stocks mostly NASDAQ e.g., BEAM, EXAS, ILMN. I cannot remember all of them, and of course by now quicken has overwritten the July 31 and Aug 1 prices with the correct ones.

What edition of Quicken (Deluxe, Premier, etc) are you running? If Premier or higher, if you go to Edit > Preferences > Investing, is the Real time quotes option selected?
If so, that could be the source of your changing quotes. With Real time quotes enabled, Quicken initially downloads quotes that include after-hours trading, which are often significantly different from the closing prices. Try disabling that option and see if that fixes your problem.

I am using Deluxe so the real time quotes option does not exist. I just don't trust quicken any more and will now as a matter of course always compare Quicken prices with those I get from excel StockHistory — its is easy to do and takes little time..
