In Dashboard Net Worth Always Shows Negative Number
Even when NO accounts are selected Net Worth is negative—it shows "other liabilities" as negative when clicks on one of the bars in the bar chart. Customer Support Rep replicated the issue on his end using his own newly created Quicken Classic for Windows file. Other experiencing the same glitch?

Hello @Steve Be,
To better assist with this issue, please provide more information. When did you first notice this issue? Was it working properly at first, then started reading incorrectly? If so, do you recall which version of Quicken you were using when the issue started? If possible, please provide screenshots of the issue (with any personal information redacted, since this is a public forum). If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.
I look forward to your reply!

Kristina, I only recently—within past couple of weeks—started to pay attention to the Dashboard and so noticed it only then. And I can't speak precisely to the version of Quicken that I was using but it was probably either the most recent version (R58.9 27.1.58.9) or a recent one. I have uploaded a screenshot. Note that while the pop-up window says I have included one account in the customized chart, in fact, I included zero accounts. As I mentioned in my initial note, your colleague who I spoke to on the phone said that he experienced the same problem as I did. Can you not replicate it?

Thank you for your reply,
I'm not able to replicate the issue. Based on your screenshot, it looks like your asset account(s) is showing up on the graph as Other Liabilities, which is causing the negative number. Could you please tell me what account type is associated with the assets in the screenshot?
Thank you!

I can't "reproduce" the problem, but I do see the problem in one of my test Quicken files.
I tested in multiple files in both R56.9 and R58.9 and only saw the problem in one R56.9 test file.
I customized the Net Worth Home tab Dashboard card to exclude all accounts (including "Separate accounts") from displaying: in my case, the card showed a rounded net worth value of -$75 (for the "Last 12 months)".
When I clicked on the graph bar for today (Aug 24), Quicken presented an "Assets vs. Liabilities" pie chart showing $75.40 in "Other Liabilities". I don't know why the bar graph showed -$75 as "Assets" while the Assets vs Liabilities pie chart showed $75.40 in "Liabilities", but since negative assets can be thought of as liabilities, I don't see a bug there.
I ran multiple reports looking for the $75.40 - especially Reports > Net Worth & Balances > Net Worth (interval=Month), and Reports > Banking > Transaction (with Date Range = "all dates" in every report): there was no single transaction for $75.40, and there were too many transactions to even attempt to look for combinations of transactions that netted to $75.40.
I used Help > Report a problem to notify the Quicken developers. I suggest the original poster do the same.

I forgot to mention: the old Home tab Net Worth widget does not exhibit the same behavior. You should be able to use that instead of the new Dashboard card.

Not really an answer but merely an observation. The "Net Worth" card on the new "Dashboard" has never, ever, reported the correct Net Worth in my file with the difference between reality and the card changing each time. Maybe an artifact of this particular bug. Fundamentally I simply don't rely on Quicken widgets or cards as errors of this sort are not all that uncommon.
