Downgrade From home business/rental to premier

Over the past 10 years of so, I've been able to find affordable extension keys for my Quicken H/B Rental software at various retail sites. I can't seem to find any other than "New install" versions at these sites. The $130 fee is not what I consider a good price at quicken site for the "business" functionality. I don't need invoices, balance sheets and many other features. I just need to track income and expenses and create a schedule C type of report. If I can't get a reasonable price, the Premier version is an option. My question is what will I lose data wise should I downgrade? Can I still track business related expenses? Create a Schedule C type of transaction report that includes the appropriate tax categories? Is the business data saved intact?? I'm sure I will have more questions but for now, any input is appreciated.

    Hello @Lou Meyer,

Yes, the business data that is currently in your file will still be available as a Read-Only version. You just won't be able to use the business features if you downgrade to Premier. I would also suggest reaching out to Quicken Support by phone if the price is of concern. They may be able to work with you, but if not, they can at least help you downgrade your subscription.

    Thank you!

By features do yo mean seperating business from personal?? Can't use Business only applicable categories?? Bank transactions won't download?? Like I said, the only business "feature" I use is the schedule C re4port which I can create myself y making a custom transaction report as long as the business only categories and tax form/line info are still available??

I also assume that an extension key is no longer available via retail and must be procured through quicken only.

Only Quicken Support can do the downgrade.

You can still use the business categories.

You can actually see the Schedule C section in the Tax Schedule Tax report in Quicken Premier, so there isn't even a reason to create a special report.

EDIT: yes, downloading will still work the same.

No, you can still order the "keycard" or activation code both at online stores and from brick-and-mortar stores. And if you shop around you might even find pricing that is 25%-40% (sometimes even more) below the list price. Just make sure that what they are sell is not for new subscribers. If it says "new subscriber" anywhere in the product description or in the product pictures, do not buy it because you will not be able to use it.

FYI: I just looked at Sam's Club online store and it shows Business & Personal is currently available for $109.88. (I did not see anything about it being a new subscriber offering.)

When you order online or from brick-and-mortar stores you will usually be provided just the activate code or "keycard". Enter that code into your Quicken installation (Help > Manage Your Subsciption > Enter Activation Code) or into your online Quicken.com account.
