Positive and negative amounts for same "cash" security in allocation report
Using Quicken Deluxe Classic for Windows, and have all the latest updates.
When I run an asset allocation report, multiple lines show up for "cash", for the same security (the "security"is a cash account with Vanguard investments). It shows the same symbol for the account, but one line shows a positive number, and the next line shows a negative number. The two numbers are not the same, but the net amount is the actual amount in that cash account.
Therefore, overall, the asset allocation is correct.
But, I am curious as to why I am getting two lines that net out to the correct amount. As I noted, the same security name shows up on both lines. If I try to customize the report, the security name only shows up once when I look at "selected securities" that I can include, and is checked. Similarly, the customize report only shows one Vanguard investments, which is checked.
Any idea why I get the two lines in the report (again, netting out to the correct amount)?

Hello @markswot,
If you don't mind, could you please provide a screenshot of what you described seeing above? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.
Thank you!

I would also be concerned about the two -Cash- lines in the report.
I had a similar problem some time ago. I was able to resolve it by setting the report's end date back in time until the issue went away, then finding a transaction on that date. Deleting and re-entering the suspect transaction resolved the problem.
Please give that a try and let us know if it resolves the issue(s) for you.

Thanks Jim_Harman.
I had been concerned about the two cash lines, but since it seemed to ignore one when it gave a total, I did not pay much attention to it. But, I followed your suggestion and looked for the date these two lines showed up, which happens to be several years ago. After opening every investment account (including several that had been hidden and closed…but I unhid them and looked), I could not find a suspicious transaction.
HOWEVER, I followed the same advice for the issue that I raised initially (the positive and negative amounts)….and I was able to resolve that one. Some transactions had gone in recently as "short sell" rather than "sell", and when I adjusted them to sell, the issue was resolved.
I am now curious about the issue you noted (the two cash lines), as I could not figure that one out. As I said, not a big issue, as the total does not get impacted…but it is strange.
Thanks again for your suggestion.
