How do I reset an account?

I have been using quicken for a long time. Starting about a year ago, one of my accounts started having problems downloading data. It's an investment account from Schwab and it refuses to download all the transactions to the quicken account. Mostly it's corporate bonds and government bonds that seem to be the biggest problem. It takes me hours of manual input to get the data file where they should be. What I would like to do is rename the problem account and remove it from downloads, then create a new account with a different name and then download from the same account to get a fresh start. will that work? The original file has 15 years of data if that makes a difference to anyone.

    Hello @ckyou,

To close an account in Quicken, you can do the following:

    1. Right-click or Ctrl-click on the account you want to close in the account sidebar
    2. Select Edit/Delete Account
    3. Go to Display Accounts and select Close Account
    4. Type Yes to confirm and select OK

Closing an account in Quicken hides the account from view, but the transactions remain in the file. A closed account cannot be reopened, but if the account was closed due to an error, you can restore a backup to undo the action. This action will also disconnect the account from Online Banking Services.

After closing the account, you can then navigate to Add Account and proceed to connect to your Charles Schwab account. Be sure to choose Add as New instead of Link to Existing.

    I hope this helps!

@ckyou - When you say "Mostly it's corporate bonds and government bonds that seem to be the biggest problem" are you referring to the actual individual bond securities?

Or are you referring to money market funds that are mostly comprised of various government and corporate bonds and other securities? If this is the case, would the MMF at issue be either SWVXX and/or SWGXX?
