"Investing.Quicken.com Portfolio" choice missing from EDIT > PREFERENCES

I just upgraded from Quicken Classic to Quicken Premier. One of the reasons was to ability to transfer my Quicken investment portfolio from Quicken Premier to Investing.Quicken.com. Here are the Quicken Windows Help instructions to do that:
How do I copy a Quicken investment portfolio to a Quicken.com investment portfolio?- Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
- Choose Investing.Quicken.com Portfolio on the left side of the window.
- Select the investment accounts you want to view on Quicken.com.
- Specify the settings you want to use.
- Click OK.
- Choose Tools menu > One Step Update.
- If you haven't already registered your software, you'll be prompted to do so at this time.
- Click Update portfolio on Investing.Quicken.com check box to select it.
- Click the Update Now button, and then click Done.
However, when I use the pathway EDIT > PREFERENCES, the choice of INVESTING.QUICKEN.COM PORTFOLIO does not appear on the left side of the PREFERENCES menu. Therefore, I am unable to continue the instructions past STEP 1.
Why is this choice missing? I looked elsewhere in Quicken Windows Help and the choice of INVESTMENT.QUICK.COM PORTFOLIO should appear between the choices of INVESTMENTS and REGISTER. But it does not. Doesn't seem right to market this feature and not have the feature available.
Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Hello @Mike1224,
Thank you for reaching out.
It sounds like you've followed Quicken’s instructions carefully, but the expected option isn't appearing. A few things come to mind that might help narrow down the issue. First, when you upgraded from Quicken Classic to Quicken Premier, did you perform a fresh installation, or did you install it over your previous version? If it was an upgrade, did you verify that all your settings and preferences transferred correctly? Also, which specific version and release of Quicken Premier are you using? You can check this by going to Help > About Quicken. Sometimes, features get moved or renamed in newer releases. Additionally, have you tried logging into your Quicken account online to see if the portfolio sync option is available there? If the feature is missing in the software but still listed in the help documentation, it’s possible Quicken may have discontinued or changed it without updating their instructions. Have you noticed any other discrepancies between the help documentation and what you see in your software? Lastly, when you go to Tools > One Step Update, do you see any mention of updating your portfolio with Investing.Quicken.com, or is that option missing as well?
Let me know!

There was an extended 4-month discussion last year in this direction (See post). It was apparently resolved at the time (March, 2024) though you may take note of some of the negative views associated with the website.
On my main file and a newer test file (R60.20), I do not find a direct link to the website to which you can link your Quicken portfolio either through a one-step update or via the Preference settings as suggested in that older post I cited. So, I am also seeing it missing in action.

Q: First, when you upgraded from Quicken Classic to Quicken Premier, did you perform a fresh installation, or did you install it over your previous version?
A: Install over my previous version. Quicken Classic was expiring March 10. Quicken Premier expires next year on Mar 5.
Q: If it was an upgrade, did you verify that all your settings and preferences transferred correctly?
A: I don't know how I would verify since the Quicken Premier upgrade overwrote the Quick Classic using a key code. But all my accounts and categories seem to have move correctly. I did not use the online features of Quicken Classic.
Q: Which specific version and release of Quicken Premier are you using? You can check this by going to Help > About Quicken. Sometimes, features get moved or renamed in newer releases.
A: Quicken Premier version R61.17, build 27.1.61.17, for Windows 11 Home. Using routine CHECK FOR UPDATES, it said I already have the latest version.
Q: Have you tried logging into your Quicken account online to see if the portfolio sync option is available there? If the feature is missing in the software but still listed in the help documentation, it’s possible Quicken may have discontinued or changed it without updating their instructions.
A1: Logged onto Quicken Premier online for first time. Couldn't find a portfolio sync option available. Asked the AI Help Center, "Where is portfolio sync option in Quicken Premier Online?" Answer: Fin • AI Agent - The portfolio sync option for Quicken Premier online is part of the general sync process. To sync your portfolio: 1) Open Quicken desktop and go to the "Mobile & Web" tab; 2) Click "Sync Now" to initiate the sync process; 3) Sign in to Quicken on the Web (
) using your Quicken ID; 4) Your data, including portfolio information, will automatically sync. Note: Ensure your investing accounts are selected for syncing in the desktop app's settings.A2: Opened Quicken desktop. Went to "Mobile & Web" tab. There was no "Sync Now" option. Opened "Cloud Sync" option. Cloud sync successful. Opened "add or remove accounts to sync." My two portfolios were already check-boxed for sync. Went to TOOLS > ONE STEP UPDATE. Performed another update. "Online Services" showed 2 and they were both already checked (Sync to Quicken Cloud; Download Quotes and Investment Information).
Q: Have you noticed any other discrepancies between the help documentation and what you see in your software?
A: Well, yeah, the discrepancy stated in first comment - Help Documentation tells me how to move my portfolio from my desktop version to investing.quicken.com by 1) Choose Edit menu > Preferences; 2) Choose "Investing.Quicken.com Portfolio" on the left side of the window. But that choice is not there.
Q: When you go to
Tools > One Step Update
, do you see any mention of updating your portfolio with Investing.Quicken.com, or is that option missing as well?A: Performed aother One Step Update. The One Step Update Summary says, "Investing.Quicken.com portfolio updated - NEVER, meaning it has NEVER moved my desktop portfolio to Investing.Quicken.com.
ADDITIONAL INFO: 1) My portfolios appear in Quicken Online but not in Investing.Quicken.com. The portfolio currently residing in Investing.Quicken.com is one I manually loaded. In the interest of resolving the aforementioned issue, I renamed these portfolios so as not to interfere with any work on my account to move the desktop portfolio to investing.quicken.com
So again, I thank you for any help you can give me to reconcile this issue.

The Preferences option was silently removed (most likely just hidden from view) several versions ago. PD knows about it and based on the lack of comments, most users don't care. A suggestion was made to make note of the change in the release notes but that never happened.
You can still access the website using a link at the bottom of the One Step Summary window. But without the Preference option turned on, I don't think a new portfolio can be added or an existing one modified.
It's pretty much of a zombie feature not being maintained anymore, not officially dead but far from alive.

Hello @Mike1224,
It looks like this was a feature Quicken previously offered but has since been removed. While I understand how frustrating that can be, there is a way to request its return. I’d recommend creating an Idea Post in the Quicken Community. This allows other users who want the same feature to vote on it, bringing it to the attention of Quicken’s Development and Product teams. They actively review these suggestions when considering future updates and feature improvements.
I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, but I appreciate your patience, and I encourage you to share your feedback—it really does make a difference! Let me know if you need help with anything else.

@Quicken Jasmine I would suggest that if this feature is no longer offered, references to it should be removed from the Help files and marketing materials, for example here
Searching Quicken Help for investing.quicken.com finds 15 references.

I agree, I submitted a few FAQ change requests earlier this morning. Thanks!
