Perpetual License

Why not offer a perpetual license for those who do not need, want or use any online services that Quicken is capable of offering? You're waaaaay too expensive for folks who don't need all that.

You're barking up the wrong tree. This is a user-to-user forum, and we have no idea what the answer to your question (or other "why" type questions) would be.

Just wondering … how much would you be willing to pay for a "perpetual license" including lifetime product support for past, present and future operating systems and let's not forget product enhancements, bug fixes, etc.?

Remember, a company, in order to survive and be able to provide on-going support to its customers must have a certain regular income stream, to pay expenses, taxes and salaries.

    Hello @Disappointed123,

Thank you for coming to the Community to provide your feedback! While we do not offer a perpetual license, the Data Access Guarantee does offer some continuing functionality after your subscription has expired. I'll suggest a price for that Perpetual License. The current price for the product TIMES 99.

Would you be willing to pay that?

I think there is a misconception here. "Less features" isn't necessarily "less costly".

If you are making a car, you can have any color you like as long as it is black. 😉

The thing to understand in that statement is that the "lack of choice" is what made the car cheaper.

For every choice Quicken Inc provides the cost goes up, not down.

Example Quicken Inc use to have:

Starter, Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business, and Rental (note that each of these has all of the features for the ones below it).

And they basically dropped Home & Business and just renamed Rental, and the price for Rental changed to what they were selling Home & Business for.

So, why would they drop a whole edition and prices the higher edition at a lower edition price?

The reason is because they felt that cost of maintaining an extra edition wasn't worth what they were getting from the customers that would pay the extra cost for Rental.

That shows you that there are real costs associated different "editions". And now you are asking for yet another "edition" that behaves differently.
