Very slow update this morning
I came here to ask how to fix a stuck update but it finally finished without any complaints. It took a pretty long time. The transactions were downloaded and it was trying to figure out what to do with them. Odd…
I went to Duck Duck Go and ask what to do about a stuck update of transactions and it suggested File → Validate → Repair but I don't have anything that matches. I'm on Quicken Classic 8.3.2.
One thing I noticed which I think is correct but it confused me briefly is when Investments is selected in the left pain, the top number is the value of the portfolio at the end of closing the prior business day (by default). This is because if you look at the date selected, it isn't today but the day before. This change happened a few versions back. But what is confusing is the number next to "Investing" in the left pain is the current value. So the two may differ.
Again… all is right with the world but it confused me and so I thought I would mention it in case others are confused and are trying to figure out what is going on.

Hello @Perry Smith,
Thanks for taking the time to report this issue!
The instructions you found (File → Validate → Repair) are Windows specific and are only available in Quicken Classic for Windows. That's why you are unable to find it in your Quicken Classic for Mac program.
As for the delayed online account updates you experienced, this was part of a known issue that has since been resolved. You can review the details in this Community Alert.
Thank you!

I guess the suggestion to stop "animations" is just for Windows. [Removed - Rant/Speculation]
I had a slow update today so I don't agree that the issue has been resolved as the alert suggests.
No CPU activity, no network activity. It is stuck in "Updating transactions". The alert says to reset "affected" accounts. How do I figure out which accounts are affected?

@Perry Smith My advice would be to wait a day or two (at least until after the weekend) to see if the problem resolves itself; I wouldn't mess with your connectivity setup at this time. It may be an issue with Quicken's servers, Intuit's servers, one of your financial institutions' servers, or some cloud computing host (e.g. AWS or Azure) servers. Most such problems a typically resolved within a few hours or a day. If you need to check something in your accounts today, just logon to the financial institution website, and give Quicken a day or two to catch up.

@Oldtimer666 I saw only the first sentence of your post before it was removed by a moderator, but I think I got the overall drift. 😉 The comment I would make to you or to anyone is that if Quicken becomes more of a liability/pain to you than an asset/help to you, it's likely time to move on rather than cursing how Quicken is failing you. Some Quicken users find Quicken works very well for them. Some Quicken users find Quicken has flaws, omissions, or quirks which are annoying but tolerable within the total scope of how they use Quicken. But if you're finding Quicken unbearable or unusable for your needs, consider looking for a different way to manage your financial information. I've been a Quicken user for more than 30 years and I find that despite some shortcomings, it is very useful to me; if you've found that's no longer the case for you, then find something you think would serve you better.

More info that might help the developers: My Apple card's statement became ready. The process is to download a .qfx file and then load it into Quicken (via double clicking it). This worked without any delays. This might help narrow down which part of the code is and isn't working.
