Account bar balance doesn't match register balance for one account (Fixed!)

I drafted this whole post about a balance mismatch problem but after I wrote it, I tried "Validate File" then "Super Validate File". Super validate worked. Read on if you're curious or want to compare this with a similar issue you're having.

I'm seeing something very similar to what KnnNike wrote about in April here:

In my case, it's an etrade linked cash account and the account bar is showing an exact doubling of the true balance shown in the register. I also compared the account balance with the net worth reports that Jim_Harman recommended checking for comparison. All the reports matched the register value. The other difference from KnnNike is the total banking balance is not correct. It's using the wrong balance in the sum.

Here's a screen shot (with current date at the top to make it easier to hide other account info. I don't know why sorting with the newest date at the top inserts a blank transaction with a $0 balance).

The previous thread has been closed without any resolution posted. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Update after drafting and prior to posting this whole thing, I ran "validate file", with no fix but then ran "super validate file" and… It's fixed! Hope it works for you if you have this issue.

Thank you for sharing! I'm glad to hear that Validate/Super Validate corrected the issue.

Hopefully, this will help others encountering similar issues! Note: "Validate File" checks for data inconsistencies. It should not be used as a first troubleshooting step. It should be used if other reasonable troubleshooting steps did not resolve the issue.
