Do you think that money brings happiness?

When I was growing up, I heard the expression "Money can't buy happiness" quite a bit in movies and on TV. However, I think that's only partially true. A lot of the things that make us happy can't be purchased directly, but having enough money to be comfortable brings peace of mind, and it's much easier to be happy when you're not stressed about how you're going to pay for necessities.

Well... I, for one, don't have a single problem that money wouldn't directly solve for me personally. 😅

That said, there are absolutely forms of happiness that money can't buy—love, meaningful relationships, good health, and genuine peace of mind, for example.

But if those pieces are already in place, I'd argue that money can absolutely buy a lot of the rest. At the very least, it can, as you said, remove a tremendous amount of stress, and open the door to experiences and opportunities that make life a whole lot happier.

As I see it, the basic problem with money buying happiness is that those with the most money always seem to want still more.

After I finally somewhat matured, (took awhile, still working on it) 😉 I began to realize money is not that important to me. Now having said that, I also realize it is very important to most people on this planet. So I needed it to get along in the world. For example, anything material in this world is purchased with money; house, groceries, vehicle; & especially in my case, hiking, fishing, outdoor stuff 🤣 Also heard it said, 'You can't buy love', however, some do; BUT will it be 'true love' 🤔 Changes or, no. So to answer the question. Can money buy happiness? No, but you do need it to get by in this Ole World. Which leads me to wonder: What about the next? Of course, religionist topics allowed here, so you'll have to ponder about that privately.

The problem is that the expression has been taken wrong. It reminds me of "You can't have your cake and eat it too." People get what this means wrong all the time. The expression is quite literal. If means that if you consume your cake, you can't also have it in your hand. It is basically saying it is impossible to have it both ways, not that you can't enjoy your cake.

With the expression "Money can't buy you happiness." It means, happiness comes from within, if you are sour, unhappy person, the money will not change that. It doesn't mean that you can't use money in a way that makes you happy.

Money doesn't buy happiness because many wealthy people still struggle with depression and even die by suicide. However, it's undeniable that many of the problems ordinary people face can be solved with money. I think money can contribute to happiness, but it's usually not the source of happiness itself.
