Direct Connect for Canadian Banks
I am trying to setup my account in quicken desktop Canada version. I originally installed the US version and was able to direct connect to my Canadian bank Envision Financial Credit Union. I then uninstalled and switched to the Canadian version since I’m in Canada, only to find that Envision Financial Credit union is not listed. Does anyone have any idea why this is. I know the bank supports direct connect because it connected to Quicken US. It seems like the Canadian version of quicken has less Canadian bank support than the US version. Any advice or work around would be greatly appreciated.
Also is there an updated list of supported Canadian financial institutions or roadmap for support.

I had never heard of Envision Financial CU before. I see that it is a division of First West Credit Union, along with other divisions, Valley First, Island Savings and Enderby & District Financial.
Surprised to see you claim that Direct Connect (DC) is even available for this CU since DC is not supposed to be available for ANY CDN bank, therefore it is not available in the QWin-CA version. But according to the fidir.txt file in QWin, there is only Web Connect (WC) and Express Web Connect (EWC) available. So, are you sure you are using Direct Connect? I suspect it is EWC, not DC.
That said, I do notice that WC is the only option in QWin-CA for this CU, and that it is only available for credit cards and not banking. Strange. I do not believe there is any work-around in this situation.
You can access the entire list of supported CAN FIs in the fidir.txt file within the Quicken installation or you can find it here:
It is a little cryptic but not too hard to discern. You will see whether Web Connect and/or Express Web Connect is available next to each FI as applicable and for which type of accounts and services it is available.
The only solace is that Quicken has agreed to merge the connectivity in the two products but there is no timeline offered in over 3 years. See:

(Envision Financial CU CChttps://Envision.mycardinfo.com)this is not the right bank. the one I need is listed in the US version as "Envision Financial (Canada) High S" URL envisionfinancial.ca

US version:
And it is Express Web Connect:
It is interesting that it is in the US list, but I wouldn't read too much into that. There have always been a few that are financial institutions in both countries like BMO. But Quicken Windows US will only download transactions in USD.

thanks for all the help. I guess it was express web connect I was using on the US version to connect to “Envision Financial (Canada) High S”. I just spent an hour on the phone with support and at the end I was told that it should show up when adding account but it’s not and there’s nothing else they can do to help. I’m thinking I may have to wait for shift change and take another run at getting support.
I’m thinking of doing a clean install to see if that helps but have a feeling that’s not the problem.

I don't know why they would tell you that "it should show up". Clearly it isn't in the Canadian list.
The only thing that matches is:
And CREDIT&Web-CONNECT is Web Connect/Download/import a QFX file, and it is only for credit card accounts, not banking.

it is in the Canadian file and looks like it has support for EWC

That entry is in the US file, not the Canadian one.

I noticed that after as well when I tried comparing the 2 files. I deleted fidir.txt and then reinstalled my Canadian version but for some reason it appears as though the us file is being reinstalled instead of the Canadian version. Since having the US version previously installed could there some temp files I need to cleanup.

Quicken Windows is actually just one program, that is why the install is the same. It switches based on subscription. And you have to make sure that you install the right patches, because even though the ones for US will install, even with running on a Canadian subscription there does seem to be some differences between them.
BTW I'm not sure things will work right if you start with a US data file and then switch over to the Canadian edition.
You might even be in the situation I'm in, but in reverse. I did some betas for the Canadian edition and as such my Quicken Id is attached to an expired Canadian subscription and a current US subscription. The result is when I get this after the data file is created, and just before it is going to be opened in Quicken for the first time.
If I select Canadian (open a Canadian data file) it will report that I'm using the Canadian version (but the actual version number will not change). If I open a US data file, it will report that I'm using the US version.
I'm not sure what triggers installing the patches from the right version. You can install them manually though:
…
For a "clean install" you could uninstall and then make sure these folders are deleted:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken"
"C:\ProgramData\Quicken"
"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Quicken"
Quicken Support might be better on handling it if you can't get it back to installing the Canadian patches automatically.
BTW the fidir.txt files are downloaded not really referenced directly from the URL.
C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Can\Inet\Common\Localweb\Banklist\2019 (this folder some times changes, search for fidir.txt even for Canadian)
And:
C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Inet\Common\Localweb\Banklist\…

Thanks Chris for all the help. I did try uninstalling and deleting any traces I could find. Then did fresh install. I did not reboot before fresh install but I get the same fidir.txt 3.41 mb and 16,506 lines. Same one posted as the US Version. You may be on to something about my login. I Did cancel the US subscription then started a Canadian subscription. After that I kept getting redirected to the US login so I have to make sure I’m logging into the right site or account now. So you might be onto something here.

I also setup a fresh file after install.

What do you mean by you got that file? We refer to it to troubleshoot but for normal operations you should never be looking at it. You do add account and then you type in the financial institution name. That is when you know what is supported And since the lists are different you know whether you're in the US list or the Canadian list.

Thanks for the help. I’m all good. I see it’s obvious that the Canadian version just doesn’t support my bank. Not good because it has all my main accounts. It shouldn’t be that difficult to add the same support the us version already has.

This has always been a sore spot. Quicken Mac supports both US and Canadian financial institutions.
This is its list:
And the same entries that are for Quicken Windows US are there for Envision.
I can't find it at the moment, but there should be an Idea to vote on that says that support should be like that both US and Canadian financial institutions should be supported.
But in the meantime, if the transactions are available in a different format like CSV you should be able to run my converter to get your transactions imported. It is free:

Thanks. I missed that (or more likely I just got "tunnel vision").
