Lost Transaction Splits - discussions closed with NO resolution (edit)
I continue to encounter the issue of lost transaction splits which I've previously reported in this forum and after searching I discover that there have been more than one thread on this issue, both of which were closed. What use is a financial software product if it can't retain the historical allocation of transactions? Why is there no resolution offerred in these threads? I've gone back and reentered the splits correctly only to discover that they're gone again.
Please help!

Hello @Jack's iMac,
How long have you been experiencing this issue? What exactly is occurring?
Also, please be aware that discussion threads in the Quicken Community are closed once they have reached thirty days of no new activity.
Thanks!

It's now happened to me twice with transactions involving monthly social security and pension receipts which should have deductions for health insurance and medicare premiums. I turned off Mobile and Web syncing, after seeing that suggestion in one of the old threads, and corrected 2023 and 2024 to date a few months ago only to discover that they're again categorized as only as social security and pension without the deductions for insurance. My question about closed threads relates to the fact that they dealt with known issues but never reported a resolution.
Thanks for the quick response.

This is not a great idea - to just close discussions after 30 of no activity - when the situation may be related to a monthly or even every other month or longer repeating type of transaction…..
And just closing the discussion - basically says - Nope… no problem found -There was a problem with "splits" being changed awhile back… and it hit a lot of folks -
maybe the same bug has re-surfaced -
I have now seen TWO postings today about "splits" disappearing…Here from QMac side -

For recurring transactions with required category splits, I recommend that you set up and use a Scheduled Transaction Reminder.
Record this reminder every month BEFORE Due Date and BEFORE you download transactions from the bank. This way, a valid transaction with category splits already exists in the register and any downloaded transaction will be matched to it, without messing up the splits.0 -
That's exactly how I do it for the transactions that are experiencing the missing splits issue.

And the Reminder was executed (turned into a real register transaction) BEFORE you downloaded from the bank? If you wait for the download process to prompt you for "is this the reminder …?" or similar question … it may be too late.
I always make sure my reminders are converted into real register transactions before I download … then I manually accept each individual transaction … and I have no problems with messed up category splits or mismatched transactions

Yes, it was.

Is this about QWin or QMac? @Jack's iMac 's name is iMac but the profile indicates QWin. But then @Ps56k2 quotes a similar problem with QMac.
