The R55.13 version causes some dlls to be deleted from the update.

There are a few reports already of users seeing Quicken go into an install mode after the update. Certain Windows setups cause some dlls to be omitted from the installation. The base install contains EO.xxxx.dlls and a QShowHelp.dll. But after the update the EO.xxxxx.dlls and QShowHelp.dll are removed from the program folder. This causes Quicken to go into an install mode for example when navigating in Tax Planner.

Looks like Tax Planner is not the only area affected. Also, the issue is not caused by launching Quicken from a shortcut as has been suggested by support. It's caused by missing dlls.

Adding- Adding- QShowHelp.dll is present but there must be one or more dlls used for QFX downloads that are missing. Sorry about the QShowHelp reference as that was from previous reporting in another forum that cannot be mentioned.

Adding- sanitized data files will not help. Install logs might but what really needs to happen is for Quicken to post a list of files that should be present in the Program Folder so users having the issue can identify the missing dlls.

Yeah, it is a mess. I suggested they at least revert ro 55.12 on the update page so people could install the mondo to fix BUT they didn't see this update as bad as I did I guess.

When I click on one of my .qdf accounts, instead of opening Quicken, it goes to a Windows install program which fails with message "enter an alternate path to a folder containing 'Quicken.msi' This has only occurred since installing Quicken update R55.13.

What do you mean by "qdf account"? Your QDF (Quicken Data file) is what HOLDS your accounts in Q … it isn't an account itself.

SO, what if the full path and file name of what you're clicking on?

A few users report experiencing QFX import issues in Quicken for Windows after updating to the latest build, R55.13.

The workaround for this issue is to go to File>File Import>QFX and then pick the QFX file, which will import.

This has been escalated internally, though we do not have an ETA at this time.

I have tried this and still get the same problem with the downloads not working.

I tried the file import work around and that does not work either. We need a better work around please.

Add me to the list of people having this same issue. Download the transactions from my bank, click the file, and I get this same error. Was able to import the file successfully following the suggested instructions. Inconvenient, but at least it works

I reset my accounts in Quicken with PNC and the download worked through Quicken. When I try to download from PNC, I get the same error messages everyone else gets. Try resetting online accounts.

The data is in a data file, not the program. You just need to find the .QDF file and make a safety copy of it, but the un-install should not delete the data file if it is in the normal location (under the Documents folder).

If you can start the program, see the File menu for an option to go to the location of the data file.

@goodfda have you installed the latest R55.15, which was just released yesterday, 3/14? If not you might try that, because many users are reporting that that fixes the issues discussed here.

Yay. Kudos to Quicken IT team for rapid turn around to solve financial institutions downloading problems and issues with qdf files.

Original problem that I reported "clicking on a data file (.QDF) file starts an install process instead of launching Quicken" has been fixed with last nights R55.15 update.

Anyone know if 55.15 also fixed the DLL issue reported? I'm still hesitant to install 55.XX given all the issues.

@Scott Baines see my earlier post today.

@fay166 What version of Quicken are you running? This information is at Help > About Quicken. Does the new version R55.15 resolve the issue for you?

    Yes, it fixes it.

Note I just did: Help → Check for Updates, and it did detect that R55.15 is available, and I downloaded/installed it using that.

Version 55.15, Build 27.1.55.15 did not fix it for me, I still cannot download transactions. Does anyone have a work around? Is there a way to downgrade to version R55.12 (assuming that version still works)?

    Thanks.

Just install the previous mondo patch from https://assistant.quicken.com/patch/QW27.1.55.12MPatch.EXE or use the workaround above "The workaround for this issue is to go to File>File Import>QFX and then pick the QFX file, which will import." or reach out to quicken.com/support for help! good luck
