Favorite thing about Fall...
Hello Everyone and welcome to September!!
For this month's icebreaker, I would love to hear your favorite thing about the wonderful season of Fall (or Autumn if you so please). This can be anything from favorite fall scents, flavors, treats, beverages, activities, etc.
Personally, I am a sucker for Halloween! I am sure you have all heard me mention it a time or two LOL. I also am an all things Pumpkin girl, I love pumpkin-flavored coffee, desserts, carving them, etc!
I can't wait to hear from you all!

Particularly one of the things our very own Idaho is known for and also tends to bring our seasonal “leafer” tourism— the colorful fall leaves. The shades of red, orange, and yellow is my favorite to see every year. 🍁♥️

I enjoy the fall colors. There are lots of Elm and Maple trees in my neighborhood, making for quite a pretty display of red and gold/yellow.

Hiking, fishing, kayaking, & camping. Hot and humid round these parts till about October. Then 'The Good Lord's gift of creation kicks in', with cool crisp air, fish a jumping, sunsets to die for 🌅 And for history fanatics, (and I'm one) history abounds round these parts. For one, DeSoto traveled through this area in 1540; telling natives he has 'writ' from King of Spain, we now own this land. Give us your gold, food, & forget your heathen ways and accept Christianity, or else! Oh, and for you dog lovers, he had Greyhounds (chase down fresh meat on the hoof) mastiff's (War Dog's). Trained to hunt, kill and eat whatever, including people if need be 😲 All around nice guy 🤔

The beach! I live in a beach town in So Cal where our summers are frequently overcast with marine layer and nights are chilly (known as May gray, June gloom, windy July, and goes thru Aug). Fall is when the weather normalizes in our area, clouds & winds go away. We can finally grill and comfortably sit out at night without sweaters and blankets. Perfect time of the year to enjoy the beach and outdoors with less crowd. First half of Fall is the best weather for all outdoor activities.

At 81 years of age, my wife and I love the cooler weather so we can again sit outside on our deck or patio and enjoy nature. We gave up our Rocky Mountain cabin that was our escape from the hot midwest summers, so we look forward to our afternoon 'merlot time'. One of our favorites is an upper Michigan blend called Witches Brew that is a seasonal fall variety. Plus we are fairly close to the town of Shipshewana which is an Amish community where we can get wonderful foods and snacks. They raise and produce their own products and I get fabulous sausage and cheeses to enjoy with our wine.
