fix saved report management - needs modernization

if you want to delete several reports from a user-created-folder, you have to right-click on a report, follow the confirmation dialog, and (then the list of reports shifts so you have to) scroll down to see the list again.

for each report, you have to repeat the time consuming process above.

report management should be modernized with use of widely known windows tools such as CTRL-click and SHIFT-click to select multiple reports, and use of the DELETE button.

Saving reports should default to the same sequence as Windows. When I save it, it should default to using the title. It should default to save a new report in My saved reports. If editing an existing report, it should default to save it in the folder it came from. If it will overwrite an existing report, it should warn and ask permission to replace it or allow me to change the name and/or location.

In the gear used to edit the report, it would be helpful to show the name of the template used in creating the report.

I strongly agree on showing the name of the report template. This would be particularly helpful if you are having problems with a report and want to re-create it.

    Hello All,

This Idea seems to have stalled, and we would like to gauge the current interest in this request.

    Thank you!

I'd still like to see the changes I listed in May 2025 as well as the others in this thread.

When I create a custom report, I search through the Standard Reports to find one that produces the report format customizing options I need such as sorting, comparisons, subtotals, column selection, etc. Standard Report are customizations of templates. If there was a list of Standard Templates, it would be faster to search the shorter list. Also, I'd be helpful to show the name of the template in the report.

Yes to updating reports manager. I would love to be able to nest folders for example! to select a whole row of reports to move to another place also. help.

I think that capability already exists. Open the default report, customize it how you want and then save it with "Template" in the name (ex.: Template_Income & Expense). Then save that template report to My Saved Reports. You can have many such template reports.

Then open a template report, customize it some more (ex.: for 2026) and save that report without the word "template" in the name. Maybe do another one for 2025 and save that customized report. Now you have 2 reports customized exactly the same except for the year that you can pull up individually whenever you want without having to do additional customization.

Or am I missing something? If so, please provide more explanation about what your concept is.

I still would like to see the changes I suggested May 2025. That is, saving reports should default to the same sequence as Windows.

A few weeks ago, I created a new data file using QXF to export my data and import it. Report are not imported so I've had to recreate all of them. I found that the list of the standard reports hasn't changed but the options in the reports have changed.

I still think the enhancements discussed here would be very helpful, especially the ability to see what standard report (template) a saved report is based on.
