Inconsistent Downloads of SPAXX Div from Fidelity

I started using Fidelity (brokerage not net benefits) in SEP 2024 and I found that the income dividends from SPAXX aren't downloading consistently. I have a few Fidelity accounts and they're all missing several SPAXX dividend transactions. Some months it's there and some it's not. It's not always the same months missing within each account. It seems arbitrary.
I'm using SPAXX (Fidelity Government Money Market) for the sweep and it's treated as cash in quicken (my preferred way of handling it).
It's frustrating to have to manually add these missed transactions. The OSU is supposed to do all that for us.
Here are some screenshots showing that some of the transactions are missing.
Online there's a SPAXX dividend at the end of each month between Sep 2024 and May 2025.
Missing below are January and March thru May 2025
In another account, the missing transactions are Oct, Dec, Jan, Mar and May.
These are all sorted by security name to group them all for the screenshot. All other transactions download into quicken without issue.
I've seen similar posts over the years but I have's seen a specific fix for this.

Hello @Geobrick,
Thanks for reaching out! In order to better assist you, I have a few questions.
- Do you see any pattern related to the amount of the SPAXX dividend (i.e., are smaller ones more likely to be missed)?
- If you go to Tools > Online Center, does the missing dividend show up in the download log for those months, or is it absent entirely?
- Are the missing dividends present in Fidelity’s online activity export (CSV or PDF) for the affected date ranges?
- Have you seen any difference in behavior if you deactivate and then reactivate one of the affected accounts?
- Is your SPAXX security set up in Quicken with the correct symbol (SPAXX) and type as a mutual fund or cash equivalent?
These details can help determine whether this is a data feed inconsistency from Fidelity’s end or something in how Quicken is handling the import.
Let me know!

- I don't see any pattern. The missed transactions seem arbitrary. For example, the missing Jan div in the first set is $81.86.
- The online Center shows no downloaded transactions since 6/6/25. The missing transactions would normally be at the end of the month so it's not surprising they're not there. I've tried deactivating and reactivating the accounts. When I reactivated the accounts, it said it was downloading data from the last 602 days (and 900 days) but it didn't download any of the missing transactions. I checked the OFX logs and only saw one reference to SPAXX in the Old Log, "<UNIQUEIDTYPE>CUSIP</SECID><SECNAME>FIDELITY GOVERNMENT MONEY MARKET<TICKER>SPAXX<DTASOF>20250305033013.000[-5:EST]<CURRENCY>". I'm not sure what that is but it doesn't seem like a Dividend. There was nothing related to SPAXX in the current OFX log.
- Yes. The missing transactions are shown in the online activity view and in the downloaded CSV file.
- No. As I say in #2 above. The missing transactions didn't download after reactivating the accounts
- Yes. It is set up in Quicken as SPAXX with the CUSIP 31617H102 as Mutual Fund. I don't know where/when/how it was set to be treated as a cash equivalent, but it does behave that way and that is my preference. Only the Dividend Transactions are downloaded (but not consistently).
My guess is that these transactions are missing during the direct connect because I don't see them in the OFX log.

Thanks for providing more information.
First, to locate whether this problem is with Quicken or Fidelity, will you create a test file and attempt to add brokerage account(s) and facilitate a download to see if the same transactions are missing? You can create a test file by navigating to File > New Quicken File > Follow the prompts.
Let me know how it goes!

I set up the new file and added all the fidelity accounts to the new file.
It only downloaded transactions starting in March 2025 and there are a lot of placeholder transactions but every FIDELITY GOVERNMENT MONEY MARKET (SPAXX) dividend transaction from March, April and May was downloaded in all five Fidelity accounts in the new file. Everything looks good in the new file.0 -
I did the experiment you suggested and as I said above, every the SPAXX transaction between March 2025 and now downloaded properly into all 5 of my Fidelity accounts.
What does this experiment tell me? Does it mean there's a problem with Quicken or my Quicken files?

While waiting for an answer on what the test above tells me, I dug into the OFX logfile.
I can see that the SPAXX transactions are associated with the CUSIP 31617H102.
In the OFX log for the Test file, I see every transaction related to CUSIP 31617H102.
In the OFX log for my real file, I only see the 31617H102 transactions that quicken recorded (and they were only in the Old OFX log - there were none in the current OFX log).I have to conclude that Quicken is importing all the transactions being sent by Fidelity. Now I need to find out why the OFX logs are randomly missing the SPAXX (31617H102) transactions. It seems this is a Fidelity problem. But how is it Fidelity provided the data to the new quicken test file but not to my real quicken file. That's the mystery.

There could be a difference in file settings since I created the test file using whatever quicken uses as the default (I didn't actively change any settings).
I looked at the setting for "Never interpret money market funds as cash" and both files have that unchecked.
It really seems that Fidelity isn't sending all the SPAXX transactions to my main file yet it sent them all to my test file. The only difference in my main file is that I exclude 3 of the 5 accounts when setting up the link to my main file (the other 3 accounts are linked in another file (where I exclude 2 of the 5 accounts). Both my main file and that 2nd QFX file have the problem with sporadically missing some (most) of the SPAXX dividend transactions while the test QFX file downloaded 100% of the 3 months of transactions in all five accounts.
Based on the OFX logs, it seems clear that Fidelity isn't including all the SPAX transactions in the downloads. Maybe it's something they fixed and that's why it all works now in the test file but then why didn't they download when I deactivated and reactivated the online access? Maybe I need to try that again.
If I can't find a way to get Fidelity to put the past transactions in their downloads, I won't be able to test this again until the next SPAXX dividends hit at the end of June.

Your mention of duplicate transaction IDs is interesting. Is the OFX log an exact representation of what the FI sent during the direct connect session or does the log only reflect the transactions that Quicken accepted (based on things like the unique transaction ID)?
0 -
@Geobrick good question, and my answer unfortunately is "I don't know". You might want to contact Quicken Support to confirm. They have access to all the various logs and know how to interpret them. They might then be able to determine why duplicate transactions issues are happening.

Update:
Turns out the problem is not just SPAXX. Any transaction that happens at the end of a month is at risk of not downloading. I should probably change the title of this thread (or start a new one).
When I recently tried reconciling the account, I noticed more than just SPAXX dividends missing from the downloaded transactions. The one thing they have in common is they are always last day of the month transactions though it doesn't happen every month, it happens more often than not.
On January 31 2025, SPAXX, JPM and TD dividend were not downloaded (and not in the OFX log). On March 31, SPAXX. ITT, Marriott and Vitesse dividends were missing. On April 30, SPAXX and JPM Chase dividends were missing. On May 31, the SPAXX div and the sale of a stock didn't download.
Since these transactions are missing in the OFX log file, should I conclude this is a Fidelity issue?

I have multiple accounts at Fidelity Investments plus I manage the investments for a club.
Some of my accounts hold SPAXX, others FDRXX and several hold a bond fund. The club holds SPAXX and a couple of bond funds.
No problem with downloading month-end transactions in any of those funds using Direct Connect.
And, I reconcile Q to the printed statements every month … so I'm SURE that nothing's missing.
SO, when you do TOOLS, Account List, which Fidelity name is shown in the "Financial Institution" column … Fido has several names in Q. If that column isn't shown, it can be added via the OPTIONS button at the bottom.
On that same dialog, what shows as your Last Download date and "Transaction Download" method.
Because, barring further info, I'm suspecting a problem with your data file.

NotACPA, Thanks for taking a look at this.
I also manage several accounts in separate QDF files (for family members). In my personal QDF, I have Fidelity accounts at both "Fidelity Investments - DC" and "Fidelity NetBenefits". The account list shows each Fidelity account linked to the correct Financial Institution (see modified screenshot below).
Suspecting a problem with the data file is reasonable and I want to explore that, but I have questions about Direct Connect and what the OFX log contains. My understanding is the OFX log shows all communications between Quicken and the Financial Institution so how would a QDF file problem prevent those end of month transactions to be missing? I don't know the mechanics of the protocol so maybe it's not just a data dump from the financial institution. The fact that the transactions are missing from the OFX log makes it hard for me to suspect the QDF file (but I can't dismiss the possibility). Two years ago, I had some issues so I ran Super Validate on the file and it had a damaged data block. I was able to fix that by using Quicken's "create copy a copy or template" to make a copy of the file then used that copy (after relinking the Financial Institutions). I then ran a super validate on the new version and it passed. So even though the file still passes the Super Validate test doesn't completely mean my issue isn't caused by some sort of data corruption.
Let me know what you think of this theory. I'm on the west coast and use OSU almost daily after 10 PM pacific time (sometimes even later into the early morning after midnight). Is it possible some of these end of month transactions haven't hit the account yet at Fidelity (so they don't download during that OSU). Quicken then sets the last download date and time for that session - let's say it's May 31. At some point, those end of month transaction hit the account but are still dated May 31. The next time I use OSU, Quicken starts with June 1st and never get the transactions from the financial institution that fell into the gap. Though, one thing that puts holes in that theory is that it only seems to happen at the end of the month. If there was any basis for the theory, I'd see missing transactions on other dates (unless Fidelity does a specific sort of account maintenance at the end of every month).
Here's a screen shot of my Account List:

"Haven't hit the file yet" is likely. I run Direct Connect from Fidelity Investments - DC at 7 am Central 6 days a week via "Scheduled Updates". They happen automatically as long as my computer is turned on.
Since you're running DC, the transactions should be in the OFX Log. Other download methods store the data elsewhere.
But, your statement about "Quicken starts at June 1" is, according to my understanding, incorrect. Q sends a request that basically says to the FI "send me what you've got" and it's via the FITID, which is maintained by the FI, that Q determines what's new (i.e., FITID doesn't match a prior) and shows the transaction. So, it is pretty much a data dump. Sometimes, a transaction can get downloaded with a new FITID, but not if you stay on the same connection method (i.e., you don't change from DC to, say, Web Connect).
And, I've never heard of Fidelity changing an FITID.
SO, I'd suggest that you start downloading in the morning rather than at night and see what happens with the upcoming month-end.

@Geobrick I agree with @NotACPA regarding downloading in the morning rather than late at night. At 10:00 pm PT, you are downloading in the midst of most financial institutions overnight processing time. For most major banks and financial institutions, the processing centers are located on the east coast. Even Wells Fargo Bank which is headquartered in CA, has their major processing center located in Charlotte NC. So that means that these centers cannot start processing the current day's work until after 12:00 am ET (9:00 pm PT). When you download transactions at 10:00 pm PT, you may only get a partial download of transactions. I have had this happen to me, but I was always able to download the remaining transactions in the morning. But there is no guarantee that that will always be the case.

I'll try downloading in the mornings to see if that helps. That could be why the test file worked fine. I created that file on a Sunday (6/8/2025) and did the OSU at 2:12 PM that day.
I was also thinking that on June 30th, at around 10 PM, I'd check the account activity Online to see what transactions are showing at Fidelity. That could help verify if the transactions of that day are showing up.
When you update in the morning or mid-day, do the stock prices reflect the current real-time prices or do they update to the closing price of the day prior?

The theory about the late night downloads being the cause could pan out.
I can see when I initiated the OSU. Here's the date/time detail from the OFX log:
"<!-- ***** RECV from https://ofx.fidelity.com/ftgw/OFX/clients/download at 22:44:44 on 20250530 ***** -->"
That seems to be my local date and time on the west coast. In the data that follows, it shows what appears to be their local server date and time:
<DTSERVER>20250531014443.955[-4:EDT]
That seems to be May 31st at 1:44 AM (with 43 seconds and 955 miliseconds). -4 being 4 hours behind UTC.If I can remember, On 30 June I'll take a screen shot of the activity on my Fidelity accounts. If the SPAXX or other expected activity is missing, I'll initiate the OSU for one of my QFX files, but wait until the next day to download the transactions for my other accounts in a separate QFX (and probably in the test file too which includes all the accounts).

(Note: after posting this I got the email from Quicken saying "We’re improving your connection to Fidelity." so this may all get resolved when that happens)
At 10:45am on the west coast, my fidelity account activity is showing several dividends for today but no SPAXX dividend yet. I'll check again after the market close and again between 8PM and 9PM west coast time.
I downloaded the csv file to compare it with the activity listed on the website.
I should probably wait until I see the SPAXX div hit the account before I do the OSU but I'll do it earlier for one of my QDF files.
My goal is to verify my suspicion that when a transaction is not downloaded into quicken because Fidelity hasn't posted it yet, it ends up never getting picked up in future OSUs. There's some type of whole in the time zone timeline when the day changes (seemingly only on the last day of the month).

Money Market Fund dividends post on the night of month-end. The June div for SPAXX (which I hold also) won't download until tomorrow morning.

Thanks. I'm still interested in finding out how quicken/fidelity can miss a transaction that happens between OSUs. Even if the SPAXX div hits the account the next day after midnight, it should still be picked up during the next OSU unless, as we speculated, it hits the system on the 1st but tagged with the previous day's date.
I'm going to try to induce the problem in my test file by doing the OSU tonight before 12am EDT. Then tomorrow after it has hit the account, I'll do OSU again. If my guess is right, it won't download into Quicken. The test file should be a good one for this experiment because when I created that file, all the SPAXX dividends downloaded fine.
I'll wait until late tomorrow for my main account and that should work fine.

It seems to be an issue with core holdings at Fidelity. I have 3 accounts with them and I think I've seen the core dividends download like twice. Same for sweeps, sometimes I get a "buy" or "sell" for the core holding but usually not.
Maybe it will improve when they convert to FDX (EWC+) soon.

Here's what I discovered. (all times are PDT).
On June 30th at some time after 11:23PM but before 1:47AM (July 1st) the SPAXX Dividend transactions hit my accounts.
Here's the most interesting thing I discovered. At some time after 7:57 PM, ALL June 30th transactions disappeared from the Fidelity website's "Activity & Orders" tab. They were also missing from any CSV files downloaded. They were all there throughout the day (except for SPAXX). I checked at 10:35AM, 6:10PM, and 7:57PM. It was when I checked at 10:52PM when they were all gone. I checked again at 11:23PM and they were still gone. It wasn't until 1:47AM when they all came back along with the SPAXX div appearing for the first time. The csv file downloaded at this time matched the website.
No wonder I've been randomly missing transactions at the end of the month. Between 8PM and 11PM is when I typically do OSUs on my four different QDF files in Quicken. Since my missing transactions were always on the day of the month, this may just be an end of month thing. I checked today but I don't have any transactions today, so I'll check again tomorrow.
Here are some other things of interest I found out during this experiment:
1) When I ran OSU at 6:15PM on two of my QDF files, no Fidelity transactions were downloaded (there were no errors reported). This was the case even though there were plenty of transaction for the 30th listed on the website and in the downloaded csv file).2) Just for fun, while all the June 30th transaction were missing from Fidelity's website, I ran OSU in my test QDF file (the one I created on June 8th for troubleshooting). It successfully downloaded all transactions from June 10th to June 26th and no June 30th transactions (as we could expect from what I discovered). My suspicion is the next time I run OSU on this file; it will not pick up those missing June 30th transactions because Quicken thinks it already got everything from the last OSU. This demonstrates the problem I've been having.
3) At 1:47AM, once all the June 30th transactions were back on the website with the SPAXX div now included, I ran OSU on my main QDF file. All transactions including the SPAXX dividend downloaded successfully.
So as @NotACPA has said, evenings and nights are not the best time for OSUs.

@Geobrick you did some really good sleuthing. And yes what you found is interesting. What I have found myself is that downloading late in the evening cause issues and "out of balance" situations where the online balance might be updated but not the corresponding transactions, or vice versa. But, I have always been able to click on "Finish Later" and download the remaining transactions the next morning. But in your case, the transactions seem to simply disappear. It must be a quirk in their overnight processing.

Thanks. I've got a sample of one so far. I'll verify it at the end of this month. It's possible the new Fidelity connection method announced by Quicken will change all this.
In the meantime, I'll stop downloading after 8PM (west coast). I was only running OSU late in the day to get the latest NAVs on some private mutual funds held in a corporate 401k account.
It's not worth the dropped transactions so I'll avoid doing it past 8PM.0 -
The last step in my experiment was to run OSU on my test QDF file. This was the file I ran the OSU on during the period of time when all the June 30th transactions vanished from the Fidelity website. At that time, only transactions from 6/10/25 to 6/26/25 were downloaded.
While there were transactions on 7/1 or 7/2, no transactions were downloaded today. None of the June 30th transactions downloaded (and there were plenty to download, more than just SPAXX), This seems to prove the problem caused by downloading Fidelity accounts at the end of the day on the last day of the month. The transactions of that day will not get downloaded and once those transactions are missed, there's no way Quicken can pick them up in future OSUs. They have to be manually entered.
I'm not sure what the fix should be but until it's fixed, I'm going to make sure I run OSU before 7PM west coast time.
