Migrating from XG 2004 UK Edition to Mac
For years I have been using Quicken for Windows UK version. When Quicken stopped the UK version I migrated to Mac OS but continued to use Quicken (XG 2004) running under parallels and Windows XP. I have now decided that this is unsustainable and want to migrate my Quicken files to a Mac version. What is the best way to do that?

In summary, there are 4 paths to get from Quicken XG (UK) to Quicken Mac:
- → QW2013 US → QMac
- → QW2004 US → QW2013 US → QMac
- → MS Money → QW2013 US → QMac
- → QIF → QW2013 US → QMac
- Get Quicken Windows 2013 free
- Get Quicken Windows 2004 free
- Get MS Money Sunset Edition free
- Official Microsoft Download Center | WayBack Machine (web.archive.org)
- MS Money Sunset Editions - QuicknPerlWiz
- might need some assistance to run on Windows 10/11 (3 options)
- if Microsoft Money Sunset doesn’t launch on Windows 10/11 - Registry Edit (Internet Explorer trick)
- windows10fix (Win 10/11 tool to automatically do same as i.)
- install mnyob99.dll file
- Requires cleanup of QIF data first (see instructions here)
- Might need to run patch to allow use of non ‘US English’ Language
- Use CleanQIF program - QuicknPerlWiz (free) to correct date format (set to DMY format) & clean out non printable characters
- Might need to change transfers to categories using ChangeTransfer program - QuicknPerlWiz (free)
As an aside, users are successfully running QWin XG 2004 on Windows 11

I'm going to ask the Mods to move this to a Mac thread, because the fundamental question is what can QMac import.
BUT, my wild guess is that you'll need to start from scratch because I'd be greatly surprised if QMac can import from such an old QWin.

If you still have access to a Windows PC you can try installing Quicken 2013 and upgrade the data file to that version, and then Quicken Mac should be able to import it from there. At least that worked for me several years ago when I needed to import some old QWin files from the 1990s. I don't know how that would work with a UK data file but it's worth a shot.
I got Quicken Windows 2013 from here:

You should be able to install QW2013 in Parallels. Make a backup of your VM drive in case something does not work out. That will be the fastest way to go back to QW2004 XG if needed.

Thanks for the advice. I have dowloaded and run the free version of Quicken 13 for Windows running under Parallels but the US software won’t read my UK Quicken data file so that option doesn’t seem to work.

See if you can find a copy of the MS Money "Sunset Edition". It might be able to read your QWin version and you can go from there into QWin 2013 and then into QMac.
Convoluted? Yes. But probably better than starting over.
