transaction enters as a charge instead of a payment even when entered as a payment

When I am entering a transaction in an account (doesn't seem to matter what kind of account - credit card, chequing, etc.), Quicken always pushes it to the 'charge' column, even if I enter as a 'payment'.

I am tabbing between fields. I have tried clicking on the right field, but same result.

How do I stop this from happening? It has been going on a long time, but it cracks me that I am paying for a subscription to this product that so easily forces inaccuracy.

Get rid of the Amount column, it's often confusing, and use only the Charge, Payment & Balance $ columns.

And, what type of account is your video depicting?
